They are MORE TART than I expected. As in, the filling has more tartness than when it went into the oven. I'm very surprised by that.

What this means is that I went back and put on another layer of icing because not only was my (relatively thin) initial layer not excessive, if anything, it was a little _shy_ of what you want.

Something to keep in mind. Get more tartness out of the filling than you expect.

Maybe the crust rising eats some of the sugar.

Anyway, it's good, you can do it, and we're done in time for #monsterdon ^_^

the pumpkinhead displays a great deal of creative joy in its murders, rather than simply killing them and returning to the pumpkin platform, it hits the library, learning about the technological developments since its last summoning so that it can pull sweet jokes like removing the chain from a dirtbike when the moment calls for it #monsterdon

And the Martians tell the humans to fuck off back to Earth, because humans suck. Sometimes when humanity is being especially awful I think to myself, "This is why the aliens won't talk to us," and the writers of this movie seem to agree. But man, that bat-spider-thing! A+ monster design.

Goodnight #monsterdon, thanks to @Taweret for hosting, and see y'all next week!

In 86 or so, my high school had an assembly so they could make us watch an anti-drug movie narrated by Emilio Estevez. My friends & I watched Repo Man the weekend before, so we thought it was highlarious.

Had to run to the kitchen to help clean up a big shattered glass jug that decided to practically atomize and spread itself across three rooms, but we're all okay thanks to my flashlight and vacuum trick.

But I missed the end of the movie, so I'm going to guess that Perseus got the girl, and she didn't have to perish virginally and krakenally. I'll guess the gods were annoyed. I hope the pegasus was set free and the mechanical owl poops little pellets on everyone.

I keep wanting one of these #monsterdon films to be a rip-off of Hitchcock's "The Birds".

It seems like an easy format to rip off.

You start with some non-descript human drama. And then suddenly [animal] turns violent and everyone has to run for cover.

It's like a zombie film with less make-up. I'm surprised more hack directors don't watch 'The Birds' and think "I could do that!"

Dear :

I do not participate.

I love that *you* do. I love seeing that part of my follows that participates dive in, I love having my tl flooded w/monsterdon commentary.

So, I bless tonight's event, and if you'll allow me to slip in a sly socio-political poke:

One does not have to *do* a thing in order to love and support that others do a thing.

Have a *great* bad movie!!

I saw today. I don't think I've ever seen a movie with as much personal story that delivered as well as this one did. This is no action/adventure romp like the Legendary movies are, it's rooted by a serious look at war and how it can affect one on both a personal and social level, addressing themes like guilt, shame, and forgiveness. I hope I get a chance to see it again before it leaves theaters here in the U.S.

Kiddo won’t watch #monsterdon with me most Sundays and today was no exception. He popped out of his room during the science lesson on mollusk. I started laughing and could not stop. He tried to ask what I was watching and I could not tell him due to fits of giggles. He then wanted to know what was so funny. To him, it looked like I was watching a 1950s mollusk documentary.

It's a testament to the love I have for my child that I sadly share I will not be attending Critters 4 #Monsterdon tonight, due to the unexpected bonus presence of one of my bebes, home from college, who wants to watch a horror movie with me - one of my all-time favorite ways to spend an evening.

Have fun, Critters 4 watchers! :D I can't wait to read the comments later.

see, dumbass, you told the king to his face that you were going on a mission to dethrone him, and then even when you realized the person you told your whole plan to was the king himself, you did nothing to follow up on how that might have compromised your opsec, and now look at you. the kings son was just on your boat the whole time #monsterdon

(Aside: I am really enjoying this film. The paranoia and slow burn of the investigation and chase, the growing horror of what Victor is doing and what is happening to him at the same time, the implied back story of what infrastructure and organizations are behind Quatermass to have made the experiment and this ensuing damage control possible at all... it's really doing a good job of showing just enough to fire the imagination. This is great.)

Hey #Forkiverse! First things first, an #introduction is in order (post your own so people can get to know you):
hachyderm.io/@suzannealdrich/1

Next, follow some active hashtags that you’re interested in, and maybe some you didn’t know you’d be:
#Monsterdon
#ThreeGoodThings
#Mosstodon
#Caturday
#FensterFreitag
I find it easier to read CamelCase hashtags, and people using screen readers appreciate hashtags to be at the end of your posts (not embedded).

Make your images accessible by adding alt text, which is also a secret cheat code for stuffing a bunch of text into a post. But you should always use that for more descriptive text. I take screenshots of text and use alt text for transcriptions. There’s bots you can follow to give you reminders or even produce the alt text if you forget (@altbot). Some clients have reminders, too.

AI slop is not appreciated here. Be mindful of why and when you are employing LLM technologies. General machine learning is more well-tolerated.

There’s no algorithms to push content to the eyeballs here so you’ll need to follow and share by boosting the good stuff. That’s why you need to use hashtags, but also remember there’s no algorithms to game so make it readable and relevant to your readership.

Some oddities might stand out. Quote posting is quite new. You’ll see that not all replies to a thread get federated (spread), for various reasons. Search can be challenging. It all has to do with the nature of a truly decentralized protocol and communities. We’re still working on ironing out what works, and getting the developers to work on the right priorities.

Speaking of which, you *can* change your instance (community), but you *can’t* take your posts with you. Principles of the open #IndyWeb still apply here: if you truly want to *own* your content, you need to self-host. You can get your Ghost or Wordpress website to post to the #Fediverse, and there are ways to do it with Hugo and other static site generators as well. See @blog for an example.

Welcome! 🤗
