Hey, did you know The Howling (1981) has an embarrassingly large number of sequels?

Some great titles, though. The Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf is just short of a great light novel title. The Howling III is subtitled The Marsupials, which has gotta be *someone's* fetish, right?

Oh. Oh I see. That explains it: it's because #Monsterdon is a Yank thing, so it only gets started at 1am. Pfft, as if!

Well.

I CALL UPON OUR GALLANT ALLIES IN EUROPE:

I have some new followers, and then there's the whole #fuckaas crew who have all recently joined. If this is your first Sunday on Mastodon, you're about to be clobbered by around 3000 messages tagged #monsterdon in the next hour. We're doing a group film watch (feel free to join in, see below). But if this is kinda overwhelming, you should mute the hashtag. (also see below) There are a lot of watch parties here, so you kinda need to mute the ones that you don't join.

Dear . . .

Just a note to say that as a non-participant, I love to see my tl flooded with your output.

Enjoy the film! I haven't seen it for prolly 5 decades, but I did think it was funny and strange and even a little scary. The blooms got to me.

Community is resistance, so keep up the good work!

ARE WE GETTING A DENOUEMENT IN THE FORM OF A ONE-SCREEN TEXT OVERLAY

oh my god
oh my god

And that's a wreck! The survivors of the Dixie Boy truck stop fuck off into the sea or whatever, space aliens are destroyed by a nuclear strike from a Russian "weather satellite" offscreen, nothing makes any more sense at the end of the film than in the middle or at the beginning BUT IT IS DONE

Thanks, @Taweret for hosting! Thanks for the bingo card, @Cherizilla!

Thank you & good night, !

I was going to skip #Monsterdon tonight because of some intense depression, but I decided that I probably needed Monsterdon more than anything, to help. So, here I am.

Hi, I discovered that the Internet Archive has some deleted scenes from tonight's #Monsterdon movie, Starcrash (1979). I am intrigued and horrified regarding (a) what kind of scene is so bad that it gets cut from Monsterdon fare, and (b) the concept of a Monsterdon movie that has enough of a budget that they can afford to cut scenes, and are not basically compelled to put every second they shot on screen.

Anyway I intend to watch them after the main feature if anyone wants to join me.

I like science guy. I'm rooting for science guy. He's a nerd in the traditional sense. Not one of those modern "hot nerds" only pretending to be nerdy.

OK, stuff about me.

I did computers for a living, but only because I had do to something. They stink. Fuck computers.

So now I've somehow ended up doing (very) old computers and (brand) new electronics for a sidehustle, because it's at least something I am competent at. They still suck.

I like cooking and making good food and drink for family and friends. It hardly ever sucks.

I also like making music. My last album is a few years old by now. I will make another one soon, I hope. I think my music's pretty good. I like most non-vocal music, and some music that has vocals.

I used to read a lot, but for some reason I'm struggling to get back into the habit. A few authors I like, in no particular order: Iain (M.) Banks, Octavia Butler, Howard Tayler, Stanislaw Lem, Ursula K. Le Guin, James Joyce, N.K. Jemisin, Dante, Sappho, Pablo Neruda, Lev Vygotsky, Banana Yoshimoto.

I also used to do a lot of theatre - tech, music, and some direction. Nowadays I just go when I can afford it.

When my hands cooperate, I knit and do other detail-oriented crafts.

I don't like raccoons or opossums. I love cats. Dogs are all right too.

On here I adore #monsterdon - a group B-movie watch on Sunday evenings (9PM ET). Won't you join us?

This isn't an exhaustive list. :blobcat:

The lovely folks at Bay Street Video aren't _quite_ yet doing that thing where I walk in the door on Saturday and they immediately hand me a copy of tomorrow's Blu-Ray without a word spoken, but honestly I expect it to happen sooner rather than later
