Okay I'm allowing myself a little wrapup post, as a treat.

Thanks @JoeWynne for the amazing cocktail, @cherizilla for the bingo card, @Taweret for hosting tonight's #monsterdon, and everyone else who joined in on this Ester edition featuring "The Monster that Challenged the World"

We saw:

- Dr. Worm's acting debut.
- Seamen, on a boat.
- A movie self aware/prophetic enough to know better than to tack on an environmentalist message.
- Monsters see men on a boat.
- A pro-document archival and curation message tacked onto the movie. Vote YES on proposition 14 eyyyyy.
- (monster) semen, on a boat.
- The Salton Sea before it became a world famous sweltering fart box.
- Cameras doubling as siesmographs.
- Expy Frankie and Annette without Toni Basil around to make them look good dancing or save them from an angry giant Dr. Worm.
- Flesh suits by Healthways.

ah #monsterdon, how i have waited for you all week, the oasis of peace where i can get extremely stoned and laugh at ludicrous things that should never have been created but cause no harm. a respite from laughing at ludicrous things that should never have been created but cause a great deal of harm.

"That movie is somebody's favorite movie"

Look, I'm not saying that it's impossible that someone's favorite movie is CRITTERS 4

But I would not be surprised if that person worked on CRITTERS 4.

At least these guys are very open about "yea it's a budget flick as part of a deal"

I jumped the gun and watched tonight because I won’t be able to watch it tomorrow during ’s regular time slot. What a ripping good movie!

I would say more, but I don’t want to be spoiler guy for anybody who hasn’t seen it before. I have it on DVD, so I was grateful for the excuse to watch it. Have fun, monsterdonners!

WHEREAS, the 1983 film Hercules is a triumph of cinematic artistry,

WHEREAS, the gods have some labors that need doing,

WHEREAS, we have some sci-fi models left over from the last movie we filmed,

THEREFORE, let it be resolved that #monsterdon shall commence in 2 hours, at 7 PM MDT!

I’m calling that β€œhomeopathic Doctor Who.” It was a movie made from the memories of great Doctor Who episodes, but they didn’t remember them very well.

As always, thanks to @Taweret for hosting, @cherizilla for #MonsterdonBingo, @JoeWynne for #MonsterdonDrink and #MonsterdonTrivia, @ryan for #MonsterdonStream, @paco for #MonsterdonData at gallery.don.monster, and all of you for making it awesome!

Okay actually I can say two nice things about this movie: the soundtrack *is* good. It's not a good choice for this movie, but the music is good.

Exciting #monsterdon news. Thanks to @combatwombat who has a database of all the toots from all the old monsterdons, I am able to retroactively run my analysis on old events. Take a look at the oldest event he had: Mothra (1961) from Thursday, 24 Mar 2022. (It was on a Thursday??)

Only 119 posts in the entire event? Hell, @Lazarou does that many alone these days! πŸ˜ƒ

A histogram showing posts per minute on Thursday, 24 Mar 2022. Each bar represents one minute. The event was 101.0 minutes long. There were 119 posts during the event with an average of 1.18 posts per minute.

The busiest moment was at 22:00 from the start with 6 posts in that minute. The quietest moment was at 0:00 from the start with 0 posts in that minute. The yellow line is a 15-minute moving average.

Ok, Monsterdon fans, are you willing to allow a spyware visible search on Amazon for a novel titled *’Melania: Devourer of Men’* in the interest of the greater good?

It’s currently selling for $6.53 on Amazon.ca if you really want a paperback copy but the ebook download is free.

Reddit has proposed an effort to get this trending.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Radioactive lizards off the coast of French Polynesia. I watched tuna fish glitter in the dark near Central Park. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

@Taweret wait, nukes are the *French's* fault somehow? I haven't seen this movie, and I head heard there were some problems with it, but the country with the most nukes made a movie about the downsides of nukes and it's *someone else's fault*??????

Don't sweat the details. Like in Death Race 2000, where fixes for vehicle problems were solved during shooting.

Part 1
πŸ”Έ The cars are actually kit cars, rebodied chassis. They were driven on public streets often to save money.
πŸ”Έ Stunt drivers refused to drive them on public streets because they were not street legal.
πŸ”ΈSo Roger Corman drove sometimes.

The polls are now closed! The results are in and the Best, Worst, and Most Fun #Monsterdon movies of the year have been chosen!

With an overpowering 63% of the vote, FORBIDDEN PLANET (1956) wins Best Movie! Those excellent special effects and that brilliant color really pop, huh ^^

The vote for Worst Movie was a little closer, but VAMPIRE ON BIKINI BEACH (1988) managed to edge out the other two for a decisive win! I can only assume the completely nonsensical dialogue and incomprehensible climax pushed it over the edge. The gold statuette will be awarded by a hazardous waste official in full gear, congratulations!

And finally, the Most Fun Monsterdon movie has been won by DEVIL GIRL ON MARS (1954)! Congratulations to Nyah on finally achieving a victory where she blows up in a POSITIVE way at the end!

Thanks to everyone who voted and as always to @Taweret for hosting the best movie watch party on the Fediverse. See you again on Sunday! :D

this is the weirdest story from the alien mummy's perspective

> come down to earth
> there's a fungus?
> egyptians are dickheads to me
> get mummified
> wake up three thousand years later
> those dickheads stole my crystals
> get crystals
> get unmummified
> turn into crystal
> refuse to explain

Look dude, I got no wife to cheat on, I don't drive, I don't own real estate, and I was never in the military. And I make it a point to never buy obviously cursed idols, though I admit to still being a little confused about that one. Is antiquing a sin? #Monsterdon

IT'S #MONSTERDON

we will be watching:

Tales From the Crypt (1972)

BECAUSE

it has an evil Santa in it and this week is

#MonsterdonSavesChristmas !!

Monsterdon is raising money for charity this week and you can win some cool stuff that monsterdonners have made!

its a giveaway. (not a raffle) we're not collecting money or selling tickets or anything

how it works:

any time this week before monsterdon (or like now if you want πŸ‘€) make a donation to charity, screenshot it (scrub your personal info! we don't want it!) and DM the screenshot to:

@xoagray

(NOT to ME. we want to keep the tally straight)

we are recommending as charities the Trans Lifeline and the Rainbow Railroad but you can give to a different charity if you want

donate any amount you like (also if you can't afford to donate you can still be entered. you will have the same odds of winning something regardless, one entry per person, void where prohibited, etc etc)

deadline for donations: the end of the monsterdon movie on Sunday night!

moral of the story: don't cast women back into their primoridial sea monster form to kill your enemies and force them to fall in love with you, because they will turn against you and kill you instead so they can release their soul in the present from the life of torture you made them endure #monsterdon

Thinking about last night's #Monsterdon, the lonely toy-maker sure could have made a fortune selling miniature pets.

You make existing pets tiny, like that cat. That'd be fun to have a tiny cat you could keep in a doll house.

And you could make giant animals pet-sized. Elephants are naturally friendly. Imagine if they were cat-sized!

That toy maker could have been the richest man on earth. And that's before you consider military or space-program applications.

Anyone who has been interested in jumping in on #Monsterdon I recommend trying it tonight. The movie is fairly OK as far as B movies of this era go, there's nothing gross or really upsetting. This director doesn't always know how to pace things but he's turned in worse.

Fans of #MST3K will remember Bert I. Gordon's other films "Earth vs. The Spider", "The Beginning of the End", "The Amazing Colossal Man", "War of the Colossal Beast", and "Village of the Giants". He liked making big things small, and small things big. You'll also recognize John Agar, John Hoyt, and June Kennedy.

Join us at 9PM EST tonight.

So they're bringing the cab driver in for decontamination, and they're _burning his cab_, but not asking who else he might have picked up or where he lives..?

I don't know, this feels like both an over-reaction and an under-scoping of the task at hand.

(Did you know this film only ever got a physical disc release in Germany, according to my local video store? They put in some real work to track it down!)
