The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy

If the footage didn't wind up on the cutting room floor, which it probably did, given the cuts the director left, some pensive thought by the actors just before they were asked to "go on" would have helped sell the story a bit. If this cut into the time budget, they could have deleted a bunch of standing around scenes, and/or walked faster.

Overall, given the era, it was certainly worth the Young America Horror Club seal of approval. I look forward to seeing more of their picks.

it will probably be entertaining to watch the commentary on the optional second mummy movie which i am not myself watching... is this one from earlier in the series? later? weirdly unrelated?

Lessons for Screenwriters: Masterclass in Session....1. If you have a plot for a 'short' but the execs. give you a 90', one word: 'flashbacks.' 2. If you don't have a believable character use make-up to approximate an A-lister or two. 3. Make sure to add in yaoi-fight scene and fade to smoke for cover.

I really identified with the Aztec mummy. Not so much with the robot. It was unfair billing. The mummy had way more scenes.

Also, that was not a robot. I know, because I took Chem 11a from that guy.

I can't believe how casually each flashback or exposition added days/weeks/months/years to this movie's timelineβ€” we know that, *at minimum*, this family lived their normal lives for 5 years while they knew the temporary location of an undead monster

AND that he would never truly rest until he got those artifacts back. Those kids must be teenagers by the end

We need a flashback sequel to this that's just Edward and Flora's sassy little girl telling her side of the story

"And I KNEW she was lying about those slippers, l KNEW Mommy was out with the mummy again, but does anyone listen to me? NO"

Huh. I'm no filmmaker, or professional film critic, or whatever, but I feel like if your movie's runtime is 65 minutes, and you spend 30+ minutes on exposition... maybe that's more an episode of a TV show, than a movie?

Dah well. Thanks everyone for watching along! thanks @Taweret for hosting! Have a great week & see you next Sunday!

I lost track of the motivations here, but with two minutes left to the movie the mummy and the robot are finally in the same room. #Monsterdon

Cutting off someone's head and stealing some uranium to build a human-robot to defeat the guardian mummy might seem like the obvious way to get at the map on the breastplate that will lead you to an ancient treasure, but I think I've come up with a simpler plan : Photograph the map.

I liked the Young America Horror Club recommendation at the end. I will always remember those poignant words at the end.

"Stop all this violence and killing. Go back and take these with you to guard like you did before, when you started all of this violence and killing."

"MWUAAAAGGGGHHH!"

It's like Lennon met McCartney.

Ok... Mummy defeats robot. Is this just going to be a thing?

I mean, these things practically write themselves.
