Vincent is having such a good time, and is so timing-perfect on his cues (e.g. for all the overdubbed sounds there that they couldn't have heard on-site). His acting elevates what otherwise would have been an extremely dull film.

Rexford is overcome with a maniacal fit as Grimes was before him! The carriage rocks wildly, Estelle is terrified as four horses and four humans careen along a narrow path high above a crashing sea.

The music, on the other hand, plays the scene along like a merry comedy.

The fit passes as Rexford and co approach a matte painting of a foreboding castle!

I don't remember anyone saying DIABOLIC MIND CONTROL. Except for that once where he said DIABOLIC MIND CONTROL.

Erasmus disarms and overpowers the maniacal Grimes with bright green midair finger painting!

Grimes seems now to be restored to old self, his fit of blind murderous rage now dispelled.

Enter Rexford, Dr. Bedlo's son! The family resemblance is weak, but no weaker than between Erasmus and Estelle.

This is the kind of movie where a guy's dad's corpse reanimates and they're just like "huh crazy" and close the coffin and it is never mentioned again

TRIVIA: Peter Lorre was hired to play the raven only after the original raven flew into a freshly cleaned window at the Chateau Marmont

Not gonna lie, I feel kinda silly trying to crack jokes at this; this movie is funny enough on its own
