Scrolling back through #monsterdon comments and it looks like some folks could use some clarification:

In science fiction, you have androids, and you have cyborgs.

Androids are (usually) full robots made to look like people (sometimes in earlier sci-fi they're artificially created human-shaped beings with biological parts but shh)

Cyborgs are when you take a regular human and replace some parts with/add some machine parts. They can still be mostly flesh and blood with robot-y *sections*.

I had my mom and two of my kids over for tonight’s #monsterdon. Our first 3-generation Monsterdon! Will bring the granddaughter over for it when she’s old enough to really dig it and we’ll have 4-gen Monsterdon!

But I think there's also a scene where she's being operated on while wearing her silver sweater dress. Which doesn't really make sense but maybe they added that so censored cuts could still show she was a cyborg?? #monsterdon

/facepalm. I missed , again. Does it still work like it did a few months back?

So in the subbed version, they show Katsura on an operating table, with prosthetic boobs (not particularly titillating, just physically extant) and her innards cut open to reveal her new life-saving mechanical parts in motion. Do they just leave out the 'show she's a cyborg' bits in the dub so they don't have to show the boobs? #monsterdon

@jonny Huh maybe... I haven't really been keeping track too closely, but from what I can remember it's usually about 1.8k. I've seen 1.6k but that's a slow week. This is all instance-dependent of course.

The most important parts of Mechagodzilla were its infinite supply of projectiles, and its unlimited portable energy supply for beam weapons. I wished to learn more about this clever science, but was left feeling a bit disappointed. As a documentary, I really can't award it more than a D+.

i think if i was the humans i would want to establish more regular lines of communication with godzilla, because this pattern of every time he or any other monster shows up not knowing whose side they are going to be on seems unsustainable #monsterdon

And as Godzilla sinks slowly in the western seas, we say Aloha, Godzilla! And return to our duties. And let me remind you that Godzilla is open twenty-four hours for your dining and dancing pleasure. #Monsterdon

Fucking off into the sea for the final time.

Again, I love the horror melodrama to this one, and the goofy villains don’t undercut it for me. They just underscore the unfeeling world that Katsura finds herself in.

As Godzilla strode into a chocolate sea, the audience is left wondering. Is the cyborg really dead? Guess so. Will her boyfriend ever recover? Guess so. And what was the point of this movie? We had toys to blow up.

Superb. Especially the dialog.

I don't think about it that much because of everything else that's fun about Godzilla, but his trademark screech is deeply unpleasant to hear
