So that was a motion picture! With sound! And turtlenecks! And skiing!
NGL, the best part was the turtlenecks... 2nd best was how they were trying to make a "Jaws, but in Colorado" movie, complete w/ Mayor who refuses to act on the news of gruesome deaths, because 'the economy.' 3rd was how the whole thing had this 're-using b-roll from human interest stories from ABC's Wide World of Sports re: skiing' vibe, with an hon. mention to the "Bi-athlete" storyline that they just dropped...

@JoeWynne @paco My guess is the monster consisted of a) crew member holding a furry clawed hand on a stick and b) other crew member with a lot of black greasepaint on their face and an untailored length of faux fur casually wrapped around their body.

And there we have it. A more formulaic ripoff I have never seen; I even think I heard Gar yell β€œSmile you son of a bitch!” just before he impaled the monster on a ski pole. Kind of surprised both the male leads survived, but I guess now the awkward love triangle will have room to flourish and grow. Got to have something to look forward to in the sequel. Thanks @4 8 15 16 23 42, looking forward to next week’s #monsterdon! And thanks @Douglasfur (Halloween Dog) for the fundraiser/raffle, I look forward to seeing those final numbers.

So what can we all take away from this #Monsterdon ?

Aside from 1970s Colorado ski lodges being more than a little skeevy.

Finally done in with a ski pole. Poor snow beast...it was just angry for being ditched by that red nosed reindeer bastard and annoying little dentist elf and wanted to go back to the north pole! :blob_pensive:

THE END

Oh well at least it got to eat a cop before it met its doom. Decent 70s level mojo in this one too, at least fashion-wise.

That's for the cool Christmas #Monsterdon @Taweret !

In 1971, Clint Walker was involved in a freak accident at Mammoth Mountain, CA, when the tip of a ski pole pierced his heart. He made an amazing recovery and was back at work filming in Spain two months later.

Another #Monsterdon is in the can!

As always, huge thanks to @Taweret for hosting!

Tonight’s feature , #Snowbeast, released in 1977, was full of fatal furry fury, including,

Quick first kill!Employment drama!Lots of skiing! In fact, most of the movie was just scenes of folks skiing. Except for the Snowbeast. No skis for Snowbeast, which is the real reason Snowbeast was so upset all the time.Lots of snowmobiles too!Snow Jazz!Log stampede!Death by ski pole!

Do we need to have a discussion about pistol vs. rifle accuracy at a distance? Really? This was produced in the USA and everyone involved in this film should have their gun facts correct. And the stopping power of relative bullet caliber sizes?
