A couple scenes later wheelchair boy is hanging out with I think his dad, who is drinking and playing cards with him and seemingly having a good time. Then the boy's mom sends him to bed and berates the dad character for drinking around the impressionable child and they both argue about which one of them does more parenting.

At first I thought the older guy was an uncle who is going through a divorce in another plotline, but I think it was the dad because that makes more sense?
