The film's opening in South Korea in 1998 had unfinished CGI work due to running out of budget. The opening was deemed successful, so filmmakers decided to expand and change the film drastically.

They added new CG effects, sets, and stories. They adjusted the story and began reshooting. That's the North American release we are watching.

After all the new enhancements for Reptilian, it was a commercial flop.
