They're following us to the top secret entrance that we don't want them to know about. Quick let's go.
#monsterdon

Ah, yes the year we had high speed tubes across the USA, 1992
#monsterdon

It is always necessary to use just the right amount of violence. #Monsterdon

when does the new california republic show up?

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

I think we just heard the Wilhelm scream.

#Monsterdon

where did the post apocalypse society that cant even do farming get matching helmets?

#monsterdon

#Monsterdon
The music is Trekky.
The uniforms are Trekky.
Weapons are Trekky.

Vehicles not Trekky, but very very 70s...

Cut his shirt open! Gene's got one trick, but it was a good one! #monsterdon

#monsterdon Honest to goodness pew pews! PEW. PEW...

Hey, 70s cars were built to last! #Monsterdon

#monsterdon

#monsterdon

I noticed that the people of Pax have "Peace Guns"..

@elaterite You're find it at a tech con near you in 2027 #Monsterdon #PlanetEarth 👽 🎥 🍿

Is somebody taking notes on this exposition?

#PlanetEarth #Monsterdon

which is worse, John Saxon Kirk, or Shatner Kirk?

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth

"Captain's Log: star date Act I. It is my job to read some stuff that will help relieve the narrator from all of the exposition."

#monsterdon

Standard Kirk style fight pose

#Monsterdon

Ok, hear me out. "Mad Max" but even worse acting/costumes/sets/writing

#Monsterdon

It’s the original “Mad Max” without all the special effects
#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth

fascinating, yes, please do talk about how the engine works, that's top priority here

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Hey, it has John Saxon, so it can't be *all* bad.

And Lurch!

#Monsterdon

Transponders don't even go "bee-de-boop!"

Cheap-ass future.

#Monsterdon

This really seems like an episode of Columbo so far

#monsterdon

Could you run a car on wood fire?

#Monsterdon

star trek the motion picture uniforms version 0.3

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Weird Eloi Morlock inversion but okay. #Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

A literal PEWPEW! Yes!

#monsterdon
#PlanetEarth1974

Pew! Pew!

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

lol the smartphone communicator

#MOnsterdon

So this is pretty much just Star Trek but on Earth. Way to go Gene, great range. #monsterdon

On this week's episode of Star Fleet Academy...
#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Tonight, on a terrible Star Trek episode.

GAH WAIT WRONG AGAIN #monsterdon

They are saving on costumes and reusing the Enterprise uniforms.

#monsterdon
#PlanetEarth1974

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974 "a handsome racial mixture, largely illiterate" 😬

talking directly into cassette tape

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Offbrand Star Trek TOS music, costumes, and lights, huh

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Ha - story by Gene Roddenberry
#Monsterdon

I think this tunnel goes directly to the Love Boat

#Monsterdon

ew, "handsome racial mixture?"

#Monsterdon

"This is the 22nd century..."
#monsterdon

#monsterdon

Planet Earth was not, as the titles have claimed, "created by Gene Roddenberry".

I've seen about three frames of this and I'm wondering just how much this wishes it were Star Trek.

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

And now a message from Bimennan. #monsterdon

Have always loved Saxon. He was in my favorite episode of The A-Team-Children of Jamestown. #monsterdon

I miss the murderous robot at the of Logan's Run already.

#monsterdon #planetearth

He's talking into a tape player isn't he.

#monsterdon

Hey it's that white guy from Enter the Dragon.
#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

I unironically like the architecture (and its quasi Star Trek vibe)

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

I wanna ride a super-cool tube train.

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Ah yeah, this is a Gene Roddenberry jam. I thought so, but didn't look it up. #monsterdon

no way, it's pax west

#Monsterdon

I do love me some narrated exposition.

#Monsterdon

It looks like they re-used some Star Trek sets.

#Monsterdon

[grand music]

#monsterdon

That's awfully wet for Albuquerque

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

the conflicts are gone, which is why we had to destroy albuquerque. that fixed everything.

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth

🎶 Dink dink. Dink dink dink dink dink dink...🎶

#Monsterdon

It’s Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom.

#Monsterdon

Ted Cassidy!

#Monsterdon

not-buck-rogers

#monsterdon

We live in a matte painting

#Monsterdon

okay, that was pretty good

#Monsterdon

#monsterdonalert

#monsterdon

GO GO GO GO!!

@CactuarJoe@retro.pizza Yeah, I'm specifically thinking about American Godzilla for that.

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

@diazona Damn it now I want the Rebellion to team up with an Exogorth to fight a Star Destroyer sized AT-AT
#Monsterdon #RebirthofMothra2

@combatwombat @paco I admit to being curious how an LLM would handle this, but I think it'd be overkill - I bet we could make a simple classifier that would be 95%+ accurate, and an LLM probably gives little to no improvement beyond that.

Now I'm really temped to get my hands on some data and try it. For science, y'know.

#Monsterdon

That's a weird shaped ladle. Also, are they serving papier mache?
]#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Ok I take it back, not just Majel Barret but at least William Ware Theiss got a paycheck out of this clusterfuck, but hoo boy add them to the “John Saxon Slumming It Interstitial Hall Of Nothing Close To Fame” wilderness years forever indelible guestbook 🤦🏼‍♀️😭
#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

So... in the 22nd century, they lost all sorts of arts, but found manufacturing harpsichords to be straightforward?

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Tell me more about this... "testing".

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

This isn’t going to pass the Bechdel test, is it. #monsterdon #planetearth

#monsterdon Pretty awesome model destruction by the land puppy kaiju 💯

I thought this place was a handsome racial mixture or something, but all I see are white dudes. And one Native Bohemian. Who's also white.

I mean, I guess to some people that's "handsome". I guess.

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Don't trip, Dink. You won't be able to protect your face if you fall over.

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Breeders but dinks? How can you be a breeder AND have no kids?

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

@combatwombat Ah gotcha, makes sense. I guess since you've got separate entries for the main and double features now, I thought it would be doing something to separate toots into one or the other. (Not that it necessarily needs to)

I suppose if you wanted to you could probably borrow @paco 's list of hashtags

#Monsterdon

@starkraving666: "It kinda feels like a Star Trek episode."

Me: "Gene never did wander very from from certain ideas."

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Bartelby The “Assistant Director Robert” Scrivner
#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Backhanded right off her horse. I'm impressed at the backhand, but not at scientist's horsewomanship.

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

@diazona No, it just saves all #monsterdon posts, no further logic applied yet. A configurable list of hashtags for "categories" would be an idea.

BITCH SLAP #monsterdon #planetearth

That dress Doc Pulaski is wearing doesn't look very practical.

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Oh no, it's Doctor Polaski again!

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

@plaidtron3000 I bet "The Savage" just loves it when the doctor talks to him like that... #Monsterdon

He really should start this expositional voice notes either with "Captain's Log" or "Dear Diary..."

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Is this where Musk got the idea for the Hyperloop?

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

@kcarr2015 🎉

#Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Lol, wood-gas burning car! It's actually a pretty great idea, in theory. I've seen nerds do it on the internet. it works, just.

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Bingo... and we shall never speak of this again.

#Monsterdon #PlantEarth1974 #NowWatching

@Louisa We had to import the 1970s male mindset into the future, to translate confusing sci-fi futurethought for the 1970s audience. #Monsterdon #PlanetEarth1974

Okay, it's safe to unmute everyone, the scary Gene Roddenbery pilot is over. #Monsterdon

CAN'T WE JUST GET BEYOND THUNDERDOME?

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

Handsome. Racial. Mixture.

What does that mean?

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay

I don't think renewing the air and water in Albuquerque would be enough to ever make it green.

#monsterdon #PlanetEarth #monsterdonreplay
