it's somehow even worse this time around. like, we're in the real world now, there's no way he's gonna be allowed to sneak into a military base with his beloved and utterly useless school nurse. #monsterdon

This movie keeps going on about pennies and copper content, so I just looked it up: the conversion of pennies to majority zinc was in 1982! Unless they are mostly older issue pennies none of this copper harvesting via pennies is even effective!

This does seem like the kind of film I might have watched as like the Sunday evening movie on WPIX in the early 90s. Weird, but also rated PG. #monsterdon

@guyjantic yeah, it started getting pretty dreamy i think starting with david just breaking into the alien base with no consequences and the lead human-alien being the teacher. if you watch it that was then stuff like the kung fu military guys and sudden competent military response starts to make more sense #monsterdon

Never have there been loewr stakes than David running away from 3 7-segment LEDs and stumbling parents.

And he's still running like he's doing the breaststroke underwater...

I'm kind of surprised this still got a PG rating instead of PG-13, especially with how much swearing is in it. But I guess it isn't too much worse than The Goonies, which also came out well after the PG/PG-13 split.
