Initial impression? I kinda agree with the reviews that were like "It's got some interesting ideas but it's kinda scattershot and doesn't actually go anywhere."

Like, what if reality were being re-written by a hack writer with the help of extra-dimensional monsters?

...yeah, and? Like, what about it?

And that's a wreck!

Trent wanders a world populated with monsters and shadows, made that way by Sutter Cane and his own frantic flight back to his imagined source of safety, a wriggling worm on the hook of the Old Ones now devouring the world! Nothing and nobody fucks off into the sea but deep beneath R'lyeh something long dead stirs fitfully.

Thank you for organizing, @Taweret !

And thank you for all you've given us, Sam Neill. Love your work. Rest easy.

I don't think they had any idea how to end the movie. That ending was less coherent than the ending of a monty python sketch.

That was a lawyer. They make that sound now. ;)

Alright, so I've figured the movie out. The publisher used psychotropics in the ink in the books. This is all in their heads.

They never even left their homes. They were just stabbing a pillow with a lampshade for days.

#monsterdon Sweet! My plane was going to Dallas but was late, and showing landing after the connecting takeoff, which was bad, but somehow became the one to take to get back to my destination, which is good. But we’re now 1/2h late even though we had 10 minute delay in takeoff, which is bad. But there are Guatemalan wedding cookies, which is good. The cookies are cursed though, which is bad.

Anyway the movie is back and they’re driving that nondescript 80’s/90’s sedan like they stole I mean like it’s late back to hertz

(Are we supposed to recognize what the inside of a confessional booth looks like? Is that a thing that most people have seen? I feel like it comes up in fiction way more than in reality.)

Look, if you're going to Groundhog Day your way out of and then back into this town a few times, could you stop and take just a couple of minutes to wipe the dust off that disastrously filthy sedan? It's getting to me.

Truthfully, headlights as dim as they were in the 90s were legitimately scary. But the blinding glare of modern LEDs is scary in its own right too.

Fine dining tonight on #Monsterdon, fun to watch this one again.

I must stress that if you haven't seen John Carpenter's work before and you liked the cut of this movie's jib, you should *really* go check out his other stuff. He's like no other.
