Hiding from my responsibilities in a cursed building, pounding away on an antique typewriter while my hell hound growls menacingly at those who would edit my prose.

Yes, yes. We all know how the writing process works.

*Sam Neill's character, desperately trying to reconnect with consensus reality, sits in a room devoid of personality, watching a black and white film where a space man in a silly monster suit carries a woman off screen while someone shouts "no, no!"*

Awwwww he's just like the rest of us

There was a weird period of cinema where nobody was a cop or a detective, they were insurance investigators. Never really got it, like, it doesn't make your character LESS of a cop. #Monsterdon

"Even if everything I've said is Looney Tunes, pull it the book. Don't distribute it. It'll drive people crazy."

"I certainly hope so. The movie comes out next month."

The movie starring Sam Neill! THEY SAID THE TITLE OF THE MOVIE

Something came leaking out of the church and corrupted the minds of the people nearby?

I have bad news for you about what churches are in the business of doing.

Probably stay away from GHOSTS OF MARS though. I hope that will be a #Monsterdon showing in the future but it's not worth chasing down on your own until you're a committed Carpenter-head.

Maybe we'll be able to do BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA sometime, though? Tubi does have a listing for it but I imagine the rights don't come their way often.

I don't think putting Stephen King and H. P. Lovecraft together *quite* works. They're trying to pull off a niche author who is somehow an epochal publishing phenomenon, a writer who'd be famous among nerds who like to sing Cthulhu carols becoming somehow a worldwide celebrity. It doesn't *quite* gel.

I wonder if it would work better if Cane were portrayed as an author who'd started with books like *Carrie* and then *became* weird in the squamous eldritch chthonian sense.

The "any who enter this unholy place be damned forever" sign on the front of my church has a lot of people asking questions that are answered by the sign on the front of my church

ยซCritics generally commended the film on its technical aspects, particularly its special effects, acting, and directing, but perceived it as being too complicated, confusing, pretentious, and underwhelming.ยป

"too complicated" say critics about movie whose entire script is structured around a denialist character who has the literal plot of the movie explicitly explained to him multiple times

One wonders what else those critics struggle with understanding.

Every time I've seen this movie, I find that it's full of *great* bits that don't fully cohere into a great whole. So many of the moments of Styles being puppetted are fantastic, I think, for example.

The sum total is good, but not as great as the parts.
