Apparently Bert did make a couple movies later in his career that didn't include forced-perspective critters. I almost wanna watch one, just to see how it is. #Monsterdon

That was Beginning of the End! I'm pretty sure the incessant screeching has me indoctrinated to join the first grasshopper cult I run into.

Thanks as always to @Taweret for the biblically accurate entertainment, and special thanks to the crew for SCREEKSCREEKSCREEKSCREEK

I have β€œBechdel Pass” as a square on my bingo card, and I was thinking to myself, β€œI think this movie passes; I haven’t seen two women talking about a man at all.”

Then, it struck me. I haven’t seen two women. So, that’s a Bechdel fail.

"Double B - HQ here. Mission cancelled, return to base."

"That's just what the grasshoppers would say! We're going ahead!"

We're trying to find the right frequency to give these giant grasshoppers the sexual liberation that they need!

the compositing is incredible. like there aren't even any grasshopper puppets to make them do real attacking moves and stuff so they are just normal grasshoppers walking around all huge and menacing totally independent from the people #monsterdon

You can't drop an atom bomb on Chicago! El Paso sure, maybe Indianapolis, but NOT CHICAGO!

We managed to get the leader of the locusts on the phone. He didn't make any demands; he just kept screeching.

I'm a soldier I know what guns can do.
They go bang.
Bang. bang bang.
But enough about me. How are you?

We drive to the army office, then barge in and yell "Giant Locusts destroyed the Town!" The army captain is like "what, no." Then the chatty scientist is like "oh no this is my fault, a normal locus ate some of my giant plants and must have turned into a giant locust."

Unaware that he's in a monster movie, the army captain does not believe him, but he agrees to send a truck full of soldiers to look for it anyway.

"A town of 150 doesn't disappear” - may we forecast a surprise to you, it's name is Dow Chemical. There will be more. Towns of 150? Wait until they start fracking! TOWNS... 150... HA HA HA.
