According to IMDb, this film was colorized in 1964. Apparently computerized colorization was first used in the ‘70s and ‘80s, so the color must have been painted on by hand.

I wonder if this process involved enlarging the film. If not, then no wonder there are so many color halos and fringes around people and objects.
