(i'm not even kidding, we'd met our neighbors about twice when they older lady came by to give us homemade egg rolls. it's one of (possibly the only) good thing about living here. #monsterdon

Notice the camera that isn't afraid to eat some scenery itself. Just pan on the wooden floors. Hardwood. Flooring.

Wow what a piece of crap car that is, brings back memories of all crappy, overpowered stinky cars of the 70s

massive nostalgia for the roads and vehicles of this era, and this kind of music. I'll get over it quickly but it's very endearing.

The real horror is the 70s fashion. The rest is just filler.

I'm not going to lie, I would a car like one that they're driving, except matte black, electric, and modern standards.

I do like "She's not programmed for flexibility." I do like that he's trying to come out and talk about what they all did however many years ago because he has regrets and is kinda desperate to fess up.

Still a monster, of course. But.

I'm halfway watching the revenge of the stepford wives via @ryan 's stream: miru.miyaku.media/ but after all this talk about what a good remake would look like i'm super stuck on that, but this is like way more of a #monsterdon movie in the sense that i am constantly wondering like "what the fuck are they doing" and "what the fuck is this"

@bk1e Haven't seen it, but Jessie Buckley is so great in just everything. Loved her in a film called Beast.

Alex Garland also did the whole robot creator using his robots for sex thing in Ex Machina.

I think "Men" (2022) is creepy and cringey in some of the same ways as The Stepford Wives, and it also has a strong Wicker Man vibe. It's pretty graphic though, both in terms of gore and nudity.

@jsadow @lytta the non-robotic housewives that we see are all protagonists, while the robotic housewives are neutral or victims of male oppression. Considering the role of patriarchy in the creation of the suburban housewife archetype that the film is using as a direct statement I struggle to map that either to mockery or satire. It’s straight up pointing out that male gaze and patriarchy are responsible for the archetype. #Monsterdon

@moira I am also curious but I think at some level they must know, because Bobby pulled the knife out of her stomach way to nonchalantly for someone who believes she's human

Though I guess that could mean either that she knows she's a robot, or that her neural system isn't sophisticated enough to actually *know* anything at all
