I like that they terraformed the moon to have clouds and blue sky. It wasn't to cut costs, for sure

Still trying to grasp exactly what they spent the most money on. Looks like clothes

It's funny I mentioned Battlestar Galactica earlier because this is giving a lot of the same aesthetics as the original series. #Monsterdon

Boy Star Wars really wrecked scifi/fantasy movie exposition for a while, huh

I counted one spelling error and one grammar error in the opening crawl

I kind of lost the plot near the end but that's ok, so did the actors and screenwriters.

Overall, not as good as last week's but still miles better than racist tree.

A movie-making question: Why use an H. G. Wells title? It's not like they used anything from the book, and the title isn't famous like War of the Worlds is.

What's the incentive? They could have called it Star Streak and not paid Wells's estate anything. It was still under copyright in 1979, right?

Best part of #Monsterdon is we watch it with the kiddo (4th grade) who we discovered liked older horror and scifi when I tried Them! out on her like 7 months ago because it was one of my childhood favorites. Kiddo makes the best comments and asks very relevant questions.

In an move that uncharacteristically covered a plot hole, they said that they're traveling to Earth (to presumably deliver the life-saving drugs).

Either that or they're getting that sweet seven years out of date Earth technology.

@violetmadder Every #Monsterdon movie is available on at least one streaming site (usually Tubi) and often more. And I think with maybe one or two exceptions that I've seen, they are all also on the Internet Archive, but sometimes they're not the easiest to find. Usually a couple people will post links to the IA page or other downloadable versions during the week with the #Monsterdon hashtag, so if you check the hashtag on, say, Friday, you'll probably find a source for it.

Plex tells me that movies related to The Shape of Things to Come (1979) include War of the Worlds (2005), The Time Machine (1960), and Madame Web (2024)
