Amazing that they set Arcane up as the big-bad in this and then did literally nothing with him at the end except have him get totally knocked out by one (1) light chair

I liked the sequel better than the original. I didn't really mean to get sucked into it, but it sold it with all the camp. The suit was better, the music was better, etc.

Swamp Thing and the sequel are bother flawed. First has a better cleaner plot and keeps moving. Sequel meanders and does too many dumb henchemen moments & junk, but has way better monster effects and more monsters. But the first has a climactic confrontation with Arcane the sequel lacks.
The flaws almost balance each other out. Together they are one good movie and one shitty movie. As they are it's two imperfect but generally okay comicbook movies.

This week we watched SWAMP THING (1982), followed by a #WrongFrogs second showing of THE RETURN OF SWAMP THING (1989) over on @miru, and a third screening of THE LEGEND OF GATOR FACE (though I stayed only for the first two)

Swamp Thing is a comic book hero I am entirely unfamiliar with, but I had a fun time with these movies, in spite of their silliness. The first one is basically an extended series of excuses to parade Adrienne Barbeau around on screen in wet clothing interspersed with close-ups of the hero's rubber suit and inexplicably strange wipes. And the second leans into the silliness of its source material and ends up being a fun period hero piece.
