so it's a hallmark of the genre for a horror/thriller movie to leave a very tasty mystery by the end, and i feel like last man on earth did that really well. like this whole time you think it's just robert morgan and then you learn there's an actual society. woman-that-nobody-would-listen-to tells morgan that starting a new society is messy. and they're all nocturnal and then you see some of them. and then at the end there's the church congregation all in black and like.
what are they like? what problems do they have? are they a dystopia? is it a both-sides-are-bad-guys situation or did we just see some of the uglier sides of the vampire people? it's really compelling

Has anyone here seen The Omega Man? I recall seeing the ending in a hotel, and my impression was that they really didn't understand the reverse-van Helsing aspect of the Vincent Price movie and doubled down on Heston's bible movie image.
Am I right, or did I misinterpret it?

Should you not wish to read through them, here's how to filter them out, at least on the web browser:
1) right click on the gears & open in a new tab

@peltast We saw the generator, though. He also had one at his house so it's not unreasonable to me to suggest he set one up at the grocery too.
And we can assume he put the garlic there himself as part of his daytime provisioning, that's not unreasonable to me.

I kept making jokes throughout the film about this being in Pasadena, but apparently the whole thing, including the church scenes, was filmed in Italy #Monsterdon
The two chapels are likely the same location, redressed, but the exterior shots we're given show they're supposed to be different buildings.

I've liked Matheson's short stories, but I don't know how well he did as a novelist.
Closest I can come is in Damon Knight's book In Search of Wonder. He discusses it in the chapter "Half-Bad Writers".
"...it's a theme perfectly adapted to Matheson's undisciplined, oh-my-God style, and he has developed it, in many places, with great ingenuity and skill. The book is full of good ideas, every other one of which is immediately dropped and kicked out of sight."
I'm surprised people found this one disturbing, it felt like a 5/10 on the Twilight Zone bleakness scale
