The Golden Voyage of Sinbad

I'm wondering if the Marilith demons from D&D might have been inspired by the Kali statue in this film - since they also do the multi-armed sword thing (except that they have the lower body of snakes).

But that might be wrong... maybe they're directly based on some religious/mythological character.

never bring a sword to a 6 handed swordfight with a magical bronze statue

Sinbad took too long getting here and will have to try again with a quicker playthrough

Fortunately, the cave temple has a chimney that we can shoot a large arrow through, carrying a rope made out of clothes to escape. I like this scene... I feel like if a modern movie that recreated it would probably do so with very un-concrete CGI.

The bat friend tries to stop our escape, but then gets shot itself. RIP bat friend (again).

So far the only evil things we've seen Koura do are A) yeeting a sailor into the sea with a figurehead monster and B) destroy a cultural heritage to entomb some living people.

Exploring the islands we find "the temple of many faces" which has an oracle inside who knows everything.

Not sure why the Oracle is seemingly alone on this island. Maybe he got sick of people asking him questions so he just decided to be antisocial and hang out by himself in this cave temple.

Both team good and team evil are exploring this island today, giving us an Island Exploration Sequence.

I would watch a movie that was all about exploring islands and uncovering ancient ocean mysteries.

Dangerous?

Yes, but we won't leave anyone to guard the boat!

A homunculus is a small artificial human or human-like being.[1] Popularized in 16th-century alchemy and 19th-century fiction, it has historically been referred to as the creation of a miniature, fully formed human or humanoid being. The concept has roots in preformationism as well as earlier folklore and alchemic traditions.

To resolve our boat chase, Koura opens his spellbook and does a spooky chant.

Meanwhile the hot son is drinking on the deck to show again how irresponsible he is and hanging out near the figurehead, when the later is animated by Koura's evil magic. The hot son runs away then the figurehead yeets a nameless sailor into the sea.

The other sailors try to fight it with harpoons, which seems like an okay idea, but it doesn't work because the figurehead is wood.

So we get to see the Evil Boat, which is chasing Sinbad's good boat. It seems like it's a little less colorful but fairly similar in configuration. Maybe a little lower on the stern castle.

Oh man this movie is about a boat race. That means there is not just one boat, but two boat. Awesome.

Very excited to see the evil boat in this movie.

Were you aware?

When you connect two round flat shiny things together, the translucent dancing girls that live inside them kiss.
