(same here, parents tried to be strict with our friend group after prom and all of us were basically like "what? we really do plan to go to the beach and sit on the board walk, seriously, no alcohol involved. maybe extra sugar")

(to be further reassuring that I fit in with you all despite going to prom, I was an ostracized middle school student that got sent to a special science & math high school to get me out of the local district)

I feel like we haven't had the tone appropriately set for these scenes. None of this seems remotely scary.
