this octopus definitely has better acting skills than the model in bride of the monster

#monsterdon #Tentacles

starting to think this music is some 70’s subliminal MK Ultra psy-op #Monsterdon

@starkraving666 usually there is some idea of "they have too much time to fill" or "they won't be able to close out the plot in time" but here i got nothing because it could end in 5 seconds or 5 hours #monsterdon

Is this crowd about to break out into song? #Monsterdon

There we go, I needed that
#monsterdon

i hope the octopus climbs a tall building with her #monsterdon

@plaidtron3000 Don't know why my mind's been wandering #monsterdon

FINALLY #Monsterdon

is this shot... ya know... doing anything? or... #monsterdon

This harpsichord is really less "octopus" and more "vampire squid" #Monsterdon

I think the tentacles are trying to talk. Stop screaming for a minute, and let’s see what they have to say. #Monsterdon

yay!!

#monsterdon

@yatsu They never use fire in these movies! #monsterdon #StillBitter

#Monsterdon Scientists drop buoys.

Octopus drowns boat.

I think this round goes to Team Octopus.

Little late on the harpsichord there, octopus

#Monsterdon

@Zerofactorial OMG I HATE THAT I LOVE THIS. #monsterdon #tentacles

Typical 70s movie, can't show a woman without having her clinging to her buoy toy. #Monsterdon

JAWS begat continued...

Piranha II: The Spawning (1982), The Last Shark (1981), Up from the Last Run (1979), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), The Island of the Fishmen (1979), Devil Fish (1984), and Mako: The Jaws of Death (1976).

#Monsterdon

The weather started getting rough.~
The tiny ship was tossed~
#Monsterdon #Tentacles

Octopus! :BlobOctopus: :tentacles:

#Monsterdon #Tentacles1977

Wonder if the octopus wears little tentacle ruffles while playing the harpsichord.

#Monsterdon #Tentacles

There are FORTY MORE MINUTES #monsterdon #Tentacles1977

I keep expecting the harpsichord sting to end with snapping fingers #monsterdon

this music fucking WHIPS #monsterdon

🎶"Where the buoys are..."🎶 #monsterdon

Oh no the mannequins wearing our clothes got knocked over by that giant wave!!!

#Monsterdon

@trixter no, that's definitely 100% what real full size water looks like #monsterdon

night time gathering at the sea side, are we going to burn a dude in a boat this week instead of a wicker thing? #monsterdon

Popping up once is startling. Twice means a time out for being annoying. 🤨

#Monsterdon

Octopus more like octoput em to bed. damn #Monsterdon

FIN

#monsterdon #tentacles

🦖#MONSTERDON

🐙 TENTACLES TRIVIA TROVE 💎

#Tentacles was not the only movie generated by the popularity of JAWS. Who lived through this? Here's what happened:

Jaws 2 (1978), Jaws 3-D (1983), and Jaws: The Revenge (1987), as well as Orca (1977), Piranha (1978), Tentacles (1977), Killer Fish (1979), Barracuda (1978), Tintorera: Killer Shark (1977), Blood Beach (1980),

continued in reply....

#Tentacles1977

@jonny I think they're the D plot

#Monsterdon

Everybody gathering on the beach for no discernable reason. Movie ends. #monsterdon #tentacles

ok, what the hell was that?

#Monsterdon

That is one hungry giant octopus. #Monsterdon

Whoops, action figure. Big time. #Monsterdon

#Monsterdon At some point you’d think they’d realize that “going out in small boats” is contraindicated.

DINNJERTIME

#monsterdon

Toy boat Toy boat Toy boat. #monsterdon #Tentacles

That water came crashing through the toy boat, knocking down the Ken dolls! #Monsterdon

Wow, actual models!!!
#monsterdon

Oh great, thank you movie. I was just thinking, what do I REALLY want to see onscreen? Someone scraping the gunk out of their earhole. Thank you for that. #Monsterdon

toy boat!!!!

#monsterdon

INCOMIIIIIIIIIIIING

#monsterdon #Tentacles

the TRANSITION IN THE MUSIC IS SUGGESTIVE AND JARRING #Monsterdon

WE HAVE OCTOPUS!!! #Monsterdon

Wearing wet see-through pants for this shot sure was a choice huh #Monsterdon

#Monsterdon #Tentacles

That little white pickup is the bomb.

I mean, VERY CONVENIENT there was enough boat sticking out of the water to find it like this. #monsterdon

Are there any underwater tunnels on the west coast? Is it because of all the giant octopi? Where would they even go?

#monsterdon

Whew!! For a second there, I thought they were going to sail headlong into the ending for Cocoon.

#monsterdon

@arrjay it just wants to find a good open wifi network

#monsterdon

That’s Benito Gianardi’s boat.

#Monsterdon

@jonny @WhiskeySailor "plot" you say

#Monsterdon

Someone needs to compare this shot of the guy waving the spotlight to that meme of the dude holding a picture frame, I swear they are the same shot

#Monsterdon

Radio will be our downfall, I’ve been saying it for years #Monsterdon

I miss the big hat.
#Monsterdon #Tentacles

Bad miniatures scene, octopus attacks boat. My mom:

"I ATE YOUR SISTER. SHE WAS GOOD. I'M COMING BACK FOR YOU TOO"

#monsterdon #tentacles

dang the ads must be really bad on the other streams some of y'all are just getting to feet-emerging-from-water #monsterdon

We could've cut nearly everything from pegleg man's death right up to badly-dubbed speedboat death without losing anything important. #Monsterdon

The more I think about this film, the more I think you could just put the scenes in any order at all. Just scramble them. It won't make any difference at all. It won't make the dialog worse. It won't make it make less sense.

#Monsterdon #Tentacles

I don'd fee LIKE it

#Monsterdon

Be careful she says as he straddles the tailgate of the truck he’s taking to an open ocean regatta. A good 70s mom. #Monsterdon

Wait, those are Lasers…I thought this was a yacht race #Monsterdon #tentacles

#Monsterdon “To hell with Cory, let’s find my wife.” Guy’s gotta have priorities.

Ah, a simpler time when you could drive down the highway with ten year old kids in the bed of your pickup. #monsterdon

let's hope she's not fooling around with Corey. #Monsterdon

@WhiskeySailor is THAT what is going on in the plot #monsterdon ??????

WHAT IS THE FUCKING TUNNEL FOR

#monsterdon #tentacles

honestly forgot about the boat race #monsterdon

they're never gonna spot the iceberg with that little thing

#monsterdon #Tentacles

Next season on The White Lotus ...

#Monsterdon #Tentacles

I can't believe this anti California-Hawaii Tunnel movie!!
#monsterdon

"Jesus Christ. You radioed it?"

I have no idea why he's so outraged. None of this makes sense.

#Monsterdon

Oh. Now Tentacles is on the high hat. It's a talented cephalopod. #monsterdon #Tentacles

oh we bothered to get a sunset shot

for a boring dialogue scene but still

#monsterdon

@Taweret gotta love the Ed Wood “Cut! Perfect! Print it!” school of filmmaking #Monsterdon

#Monsterdon uh oh. we've had how many deaths of folks and they are still doing this kiddo boat event??

I wonder what Henry Fonda was doing here. Did he need the money that badly? #Monsterdon

Huh, musical owl on the soundtrack. #Monsterdon

#monsterdon if there isn't a credit for hi-hat player at the end of this then a crime was committed.

Why are they building a tunnel in Oceanside? There is nothing off shore. It makes no sense
#monsterdon

@Bluedepth yeah, you can tell he's just phoning it in #Monsterdon

Jamie Dougherty's mother is extremely Italian, sure, why not

#Monsterdon

Gandalf like to have his ass eaten? Good for him.
#Monsterdon #Tentacles

Shelley Winters's wardrobe is winning this movie #monsterdon

STOP THE ENGINE
Scene of boat throttles cut
SCREECH OF BRAKES

#monsterdon #tentacles

Kids ridin' in the back of the pickup truck? Check!
It's amazing that anyone survived the 70s, really

#monsterdon

#monsterdon help, help, I'm being attacked by forced perspective!

@RobynGoodfellow honestly, I get it
#monsterdon

they were paying Fonda by the day, they didn't have time for him to memorize lines, or to re-take them. #monsterdon

@blogdiva I've done the math, wouldn't that be 8-1 or 7? #iWasToldThereDbeNoMath #Monsterdon

@jmelesky swimming-with-shoes-on, one of the rare hits on a keyword that already exists
#monsterdon

love that he went straight to giant octopus out of all the possibilities
#monsterdon #Tentacles

#monsterdon okay the legs sticking up is pretty creepy

Geeze there's Fonda stumbling through another flubbed line. Do you think he had a "One take. Fuck you." clause in his contract? #monsterdon #Tentacles

Wait, the octopus took his shoes off? What a weird choice. #monsterdon

Aww, I was hoping the jerk in the snorkel mask would get octopssed first. Aaaand now the whole boatload got it. #Monsterdon #Tentacles

Huston and Fonda must had some serious debts. #Monsterdon
