Wow, what a fun movie.

I guess my take-away this week is: if you find yourself stranded on a deserted island w/ a bunch of megafauna, one of the early to-dos should be harvesting salt from the sea water, so you can salt & preserve the 5000-lb crab or chicken that you fight off & kill, rather than trying to eat it all in one sitting

And that's a crap. Total drek, I give it 9 out of 10 drekpoints. It could have had even more drek, but I think they ran out of time.

-1 drek point for Giant Monster with good animations keeps it from fulfilling its full drek potential.

okay I do have eto appreciate the effects work they did on this movie, especially for the time, and the way they manage to blend stop-motion elements with live-action. Lots of shots where big stop-motion animals pick up people, and then the people are also stop-motion but handled well enough that it isn't too glaringly obvious.
