you will marry me! A sentient pile of cranberry sauce. The smooth kind, not the atrocity one with the berries still in it.

my name is Ynyr. You’d want a vowel wouldnt you? The Y is a vowel in drag you see. Yes. It’s slumming as a vowel. You’ll weep for the lack of an e, an o, or even a trashy schwa.

James Horner did the soundtrack for this movie, so be prepared for a lot of brass. Like A LOT a lot.

#Monsterdon wow, my ears won't stop ringing after that. So many bells, so much James Horner french horn trilling. Also, did I mention the bells? Time to sit quietly and stare at a wall.

If you're reading this, you're at the tail end of a long stream of posts on the feed about #Monsterdon, a fediverse community movie-watching event.

This week we watched KRULL (1983). It is a paint-by-numbers fantasy story wrapped around a James Horner score and puncutated by some really interesting visual design. Is it good? I dunno. Is it great? Nah. But we had fun watching it.

See the post at the top of this thread for more info:

@paco Maybe it was your destiny. Like you couldn't have survived this movie drunk.

So I was checking the calendar to figure out what time the appointment is... and it's Thursday. I was stone Krulled sober for nothing.

The director really went for it.

That's a wrap!

I'm not sure, but that likely counts as the most expensive film we've watched to date?

And the longest.

Definitely the most James Hornerest.

And the Glaivest.

Certainly the flattest cyclopsic.

Once again, thank you everyone for your joyfully sarcastic tooting along, and @Taweret for hosting.

Well, whatever. That was very stupid and even more enjoyable.

Thanks @Taweret for hosting, @ryan for the stream, @Cherizilla for the bingo card, @JoeWynne for the trivia, and all of YOU for your seriously top-tier commentary.

Shout-out to the brass section of the London Symphony Orchestra.

*Corwyn strikes a wide stance, confused about why the glaive is not returning to him after having done so at least once or twice in the last couple of minutes*

Again, pretty cool set design inside the fortress here. That spike pit was pretty ridiculous, but it looked nifty.

Terencio

he catches the glaive, and it cuts his fingers off

Terencio

good thing their lasers don't work against Large Cats, huh?

Terencio

dude brought a sword to a lasergun fight.

My husband has fallen asleep on the couch across the room from where I sit watching this movie on my laptop with headphones, affirming my suspicion that after 32 years we have a psychic bond and he's somehow going through this movie with me
