This would have been a great opportunity to bring back the healing flowers. It'd be a nice show of Jason learning from Medea and using that knowledge. A sign of respect. It would also let the movie reduce the powers of the fleece: it blesses the nation rather than individuals.

Alas.

"In the original, rotting corpses appear, which would not be very appealing and horrific. We were out to make an unusual sequence, not a horrific one. So clean cut skeletons emerge instead.

"I was an only child, my parents always worked with me, took an interest, never tried to discourage me. She used to help me making papier mache puppets... but after seeing King Kong I became intrigued with movie cameras and stop motion."

Interesting, this is the first time I've seen Harryhausen look bad due to image quality. The model Jason was *really* good but really obvious on this TV. It definitely showed its age - but it was a shockingly good fight for characters who needed to stay apart. #monsterdon

Okay, I assume they're using a practical Hydra head to wrap around Jason and rear projection for the rest but it was really well done, it totally passes as a single shot

"It's one of my favourites, the hydra sequence. Very few people ask me questions or even remember it existed!

"We tried to simulate the idea of a snake body, along with the reptilian concept of a dinosaur.

"All of the movement was done at the time of animation, not pre-planned. Only the cuts were pre-planned, but only in the broadest sense."
