Like, one of the things that's interesting about Straker is that he _is_ a cold fish. He's _terrible_ at human emotions, he can't build a home life to save his ass, and emotionally he's arguably as alien as anyone else in the series. That's what made Confetti Check A-OK an interesting episode, _once you know the characters_. But he _is_ a pretty good military commander, and he's not how he is intentionally - it's just how he is in general. He _wants_ emotional connection but is barely capable of it.

"invasion UFO" was like "Gozilla: Final Wars" at 5 frames per second. They both have everything happen that can possibly happen, and in random order. But there was so much...nothing in Invasion UFO.

The underwater episode that they used in this is one of the worst episodes of the original series too, at least, of the ones I remember. Boring and annoying, despite some utterly wasted nice set builds.

@strangefour @GeoffWozniak The UFO series is really great, builds up suspense over time. SHADO is weird, but weird like Heinlein's secret organizations; they're using futuristic skills, now. The toy ships could be better, but they're a step up from Thunderbirds.

The problem is when you cut bits of 6 eps out of 26 into a "movie" you get gibberish. And they didn't even use the series theme, which is banging'.

Go watch the show, I promise it's better.

I'd say there was some thinning of interest towards the end there. But were they trying to hint with the closeup on the Commander's eyes that maybe he was the fake? Except the subsequent dialogue does not seem to bear that out. #Monsterdon
