I think this is a rare good movie that could be made great with a full on remake that doesn't care about shifting the tone to something more straightforward.

Anyway, aside from Event Horizon my beloved, my other "Sam Neill loses his fucking mind" movie is Possession, which is like Hellraiser but classy and European and also one of those bitter "the director just got divorced" movies

In the 90's the Science Fiction club at Virginia Tech used to do mini conventions every year. I'm not sure if they still do that. Anyway, the year before this film came out some of the effects team showed up at that event and gave a 1 hour talk about working on the movie. They had all these slides and video with all these great Lovecraftian monsters they built.

When I finally got to see the film I waited the entire time for these creatures to come out. In the end they were on screen for like, 30 seconds. I felt slighted. #monsterdon #InTheMouthOfMadness
