@SnoopJ I think that the movie would have benefited from cutting some of the exposition, actually. Cane's speech to Trent in the confessional feels like it was inserted to placate that kind of critic, almost. And it just makes the fridge logic stronger after you leave the movie. "Wait, does every bestseller pull on reality in a different direction? Every blockbuster movie? Every religion? How does all that work together?!" If I could change one thing, I'd replace Cane's dialogue in that scene. Have him talk creepily about how he got started as a writer, or something. "My first book was just about a serial killer. My second, an epidemic. I had such modest ambitions." Ramp up the ambiguity.
