"Do you realize how easily they could overcome us humans?'

Not… not that easily. Giant spiders are terrifying, but they're solitary creatures and ambush hunters that size would have some serious problems.

I mean, it's not like they're giant ants. THOSE would be terrifying. We'd stand no chance against … THEM!

You might be like, "Do spiders even make noise?" and the answer is, surprisingly, yes! Some spiders can stridulate (the way e. g. crickets make noise), rubbing body parts together to produce sound. Including some tarantulas!

The spider stole it! Add it to the charges...

#monsterdon American International and Bert I Gordon and still we have the budget for a string section _AND_ a Theremin.

and say what you want about Bert I Gordon but this film has enough sound clips and effects for a complete sequel to Frontier Psychiatrist

Once again I would like to remind everyone that tarantulas, like all mygalomorphs, do not build capture webs. They still produce silk and use it for things like lining their burrows and making egg sacs. Some mygs (not tarantulas) make tripwires.

Capture webs were a later evolutionary innovation by more "derived" araneomorphs.

Gas masks! Well, I guess they had an inkling in 1958 that DDT was dangerous. But hey, we're not going to even touch biomagnification are we? Not even one mention of it. Nope.

im pretty sure that blowing holes in the side of insects who have an open circulatory system would be pretty bad for them, but hey why not pump a cave that you are currently in full of DDT, couldn't hurt #monsterdon

DDT. DDT. 1958, ya bastards, DDT. WE FOUND OUT WHAT THAT DDT ACTUALLY DID…
