#Monsterdon This movie is really about the dangers of greed. If Dracula had just been satisfied with Lucy, he'd have probably gotten away with it. ๐Ÿค”

(Editted cuz I got the ladies names mixed up)

@SeanAloysiusOBrien It sounds like those old Holiday Inn ads where people would claim staying at a Holiday Inn gave them specialized experience. "No, I've never met the Count, but I did spend last night in a Holiday Inn last night!" #monsterdon

"Maybe you work for Dracula"

"I've never met the Count. But I feel as if I know him better than my own soul."

Sure sounds like something someone who's been enthralled by Dracula would say!

"what good are laws against someone who can set himself above the law" i have to assume that's from the book. also now i'm thinking fondly of the sequence at the end of Blackula where cops get beaned by a barrel and electrocuted and stuff #monsterdon

...So wait, you had a book *intimately describing Dracula AND NAMING THE FUCKER* and yet you didn't believe Johnny when he told you what happened?

Prof, I think you may just be fucking stupid. #Monsterdon

โ€œPerhaps it is not too late for me to act.โ€

Van Helsing, man, it *is* too late. If you think you can do something, then before Lucy died was the time to do it.

at least Lucy's still just on her second blue nightgown. She might have another packed but hasn't had the energy to change #monsterdon

@nev "I'm actually impressed by how they condensed and altered the plot to get all the characters in the same place at the same time while remaining relatively true to the story" It's implausible that Harker was somehow brought all the way from Transylvania to Dr. Seward's asylum in the British countryside (Who arranged it? Who PAID for it?), but it does well in moving things along and getting folks together a lot quicker. Shame they spoiled it a bit. #Monsterdon #CountDracula

The feed on the #monsterdon hashtag is running about 30+ minutes behind for me so it's super confused. And I get lots of 500 errors when I try posting. Definitely seems like a Fediverse thing not going smoothly

From the novel:
โ€œI didnโ€™t know that she was here till she spoke; and she didnโ€™t look the same. I donโ€™t care for the pale people; I like them with lots of blood in them, and hers had all seemed to have run out. I didnโ€™t think of it at the time; but when she went away I began to think, and it made me mad to know that He had been taking the life out of her.โ€ I could feel that the rest quivered, as I did; but we remained otherwise still. โ€œSo when He came to-night I was ready for Him. I saw the mist stealing in, and I grabbed it tight. I had heard that madmen have unnatural strength; and as I knew I was a madmanโ€”at times anyhowโ€”I resolved to use my power. Ay, and He felt it too, for He had to come out of the mist to struggle with me. I held tight; and I thought I was going to win, for I didnโ€™t mean Him to take any more of her life, till I saw His eyes. They burned into me, and my strength became like water. He slipped through it, and when I tried to cling to Him, He raised me up and flung me down. There was a red cloud before me, and a noise like thunder, and the mist seemed to steal away under the door.โ€
