Chopping Mall

highlights of the demo so far:

the sales bro tells us that the robots do not kill anybody, despite the demo movie showing a robot killing someone
when called out on this, he says "not killed, just neutralized"
one of the business guys said the middle robot had an unsettling "ethnic" quality. hmmm.
we are told that absolutely nothing can go wrong!

Unfortunately, due to 1980s tech limitations, they each require very long extension cords.

Y'know, I'm genuinely impressed the movie let Debbie kill the robot herself. I thought for sure her love interest was gonna show up with, like, a flare gun to save the day. But no, he pops up afterwords. I appreciate that. #monsterdon

So I looked up the filmography of Karrie Emerson (Linda) and only MOSTLY because I have a crush on her after all that

Apparently this is her best-known movie work, but she's been in another movie that seems like it is in #Monsterdon's bailiwick: EVILS OF THE NIGHT (1985)

Β«Alien vampires have just landed from outer space... in search of the one substance they need to survive... TEENAGE BLOOD!Β»

The poster also has the Millennium Falcon on it for no apparent reason

My favorite thing about the killbots was sometimes they'd just say "instructions?" to each other and then make up a plan to do whatever they wanted as if it was their programming somehow

The least annoying humans prevailed...sorry killbots better luck next time!

THE END

Today on #Monsterdon we learned what Daleks would be like if they were created in America by Ronald Reagan instead of on Skaro by Davros

Thanks for another delightful one @Taweret !

Another #Monsterdon is in the can!

Thanks to @Taweret for hosting!

Tonight's feature, #ChoppingMall, from 1986, was a full on 80's feature, including all the things one would expect from the 80s. We also had,
- Gum smacking!
- Killer robots! (well, that was kind of expected)
- Hanky panky on the furniture store furniture!
- Robot blood!
- Manequin shields!
- Hand drawn electricity animation!

Cute ending, I'm sure they'll be very happy together in the many many hours of therapy they will need to get over the horrifying deaths of their friends.

Assuming they can afford it, on account of all that mall destruction debt.

and then she sued the entire pants off the mall, the robot company, and everyone who ever put their signature on a piece of paper approving the robots' existence, and she was able to live the rest of her life happy and content, traveling the world. #monsterdon

okay, not gonna lie, i like Debbie Harry, she's good. i'm gonna be sad when she has to sacrifice herself to end the robuts. #monsterdon
