Seems like you'd want a couple riflemen to go along with the flame thrower team. Because you might want to bring back some evidence that isn't burnt to a crisp.

I guess if they're mutated humans, then the "cannibal" part is technically right. Which is the best way to be right.

"That kid says some monster came out of the sewer and ate her grandfather!"

("They mostly come at night... mostly")

That shot of the sun coming up over 198x NYC definitely reminded me of Q: The Winged Serpent, too. This is great!!

The problem here is too much regulation. Stop looking for C.H.U.D. and this'll all go away.

Great VFX in this one, in my book. Clearly working on a budget, but they made good use of it. It reminds me of RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD in some ways.

I'm watching After Hours, to hell with it. You should see this credit list roll by. It's no CHUD but it's goood.

@bstacey They needed a love interest who lived, and they had a guy already lined up to do the cop's wife's rubber head, so... ensemble cast it is!

Where were the Ninja Turtles in this film? They were in New York, in the sewers, with radioactive material, so it's a given the Turtles should have been nearby.

That was some nice character work from the actors in CHUD. I still think the photographer, Cooper, was an idiot. Also fun to see Chekhov's weapon be a katana. Are we so sure the toxic contamination wasn't being generated inside the city? Medical waste alone is a huge problem. Anyway, pretty good choice, #Monsterdon.

@diazona This isn't about explosives exactly, but as a kid, watching a lot of 80's movies, I really did assume that cars would explode upon impact with virtually anything. It happened so frequently in films!

Movie just casually glancing over the NYPD having dedicated fire gear.

When it came out, me and my friends kinda looked down on it. We were into art house stuff, underground cinema, Italian horror from the 70s, some campy stuff like Planet of the Apes. We were a bit snobby. Really missed some good/bad stuff.

Wait, so the movie never even hints if she's gonna be a C.H.U.D. now? After going through all the trouble making a severed C.H.U.D. head puppet? #monsterdon

definitely the most New Yorky movie we've done since Q: The Winged Serpent. All that was missing was Michael Moriarty scatting. #monsterdon

#Monsterdon and that was CHUD (1984) :D

classic and influential, but flawed and kinda weird, at least the plot more or less progressed and things happened routinely!

sometimes fun sets, great fun makeup work on the chuds and victims, and a fewjaunty synth tunes

good times all :D

So

Wait

Are the monsters dead? Did the plan work? I mean, we didn't even SEE any CHUDs after the apartment, were they even still in the sewers when they turned the gas on?

WAIT, and what about the other homeless folk down there, did the gas kill them?

People if you're gonna introduce plot threads you really do need to complete them. #Monsterdon
