The number of watchers (#monsterdonians?) ragging on that one line contradicting general relativity is just... 🥹 They should have sent a poet.

You just can't beat the warm, rich sound quality of those human-sized vacuum tubes. Modern transistor tubes can't compare.

Well I guess due to the lack of Light Speed travel to Mars and 'cosmic pandemics' we avoided that timeline.

Perhaps if the legion of Scientists warning the world of Climate Change had just concocted some crazy story of Time Travel and used a cheap ring as evidence, the world wouldn't be burning now?

"We know the X-80 can make 5,000mph. Up there, at 500,000, in the thin air... who knows?"

You can calculate that, you know.

“Gentlemen, we've got a lot to think about.”

I’ll bet that's a direct quote from the writer's room when told they had to turn over the unfinished script because shooting was starting in five minutes.

They had access to idle military equipment, and they totally wrote the script around it

@blogdiva Endless examples abound, but my all-time favorite pre-Derrick Bell, all-white sci-fi flick is probably When Worlds Collide (1951). Favorite because it had known actors and a real budget.

It had the whitest shipful of "selected by lottery" survivors I have seen before or since. The fix was totally in!

Man, you know that feeling when you step away for a second and while you're up the whole office leaves for lunch without telling you? Brutal.

final impression: you could edit that down into a 24 minute twilight zone episode and still keep all the special effects, eye lust and wacky science. #monsterdon

You know what, for pulpy schlock, that was a lot of fun! It was oddly ambitious in parts, which made for a good counterpoint to the nonsensical plot and vaguely foreign accents. #monsterdon

So if he leaves without fertilizing her, and he fails to convince normal-time people to ... (not sure what) , then everybody loses right?

So the reason Trirene wears those skimpy skirts and fetching sleeveless tops is to show she's not mutated, fully capable of having kids to re-populate the world. Are the scientists / engineers being honest with the pilot or playing their own game? With each other? A lot of interesting angles with all these different parties. Also, this is one of the most math-y sci-fi movies I've seen (orbital mechanics, physics, escape velocity, flight angle, etc.). #Monsterdon #BeyondTheTimeBarrier
