Attack of the Crab Monsters

the island is measured in various scales. City blocks . Football fields. Crab cakes.

Bluedepth

extended underwater scenes help cut down on needless script chaff. LOL.

Fortunately, there’s a perfectly understandable scientific explanation of what’s going on

Bluedepth

It’s liquid. And solid. And also body-snatchers… someone page Donald Sutherland. LOL.

Bluedepth

one guy has a gun, the other underhand tosses a rock. They are sending mixed signals to the monster. Hate me, or play catch?!

Bluedepth

ventriloquism. Psychic crabs. Stereophonic voices from beyond!

Bluedepth

the medic that did that gauze should be dismissed. He’s got a trailing… oops. Nevermind.

smoking next to high explosives? Tell me you are in the 50s without telling me you are in the 50s

Bluedepth

she’s gonna page through the journal looking for the coupon section. Maybe the white pages.

Bluedepth

a little rumble and she’s knackered. Weak sauce, woman!

I love movies, especially late at night when there’s enough light outside, you know, stage lighting. You can read by it. The cameras need it. Always funny, this, here, you’re counting as… night?

I'm no SCUBA expert, but is it odd that these two divers have only a single take apiece? I thought it was usual to have an oxygen/nitrogen mix or something with the pressure regulated at inhalation time?

Bluedepth

aquarium stock footage, check. LOL. The filter is kinda crappy. Look at the chunks in the water. Sailor parts, maybe. That guys head? Still totally unconcerned, still.

I am liking this 1950s beach motel, but I'm sort of confused by this location. I get the impression it is a mostly deserted island that has to be reached by naval ship, but there's also an institute there? And there's a beach motel?

Or is this a case of "the island is actually populated, just all the islanders are off camera all the time"?

The title of this week's reminds me of those terrible Men's Adventure pulp magazines from the 50s and 60s

When watching a movie like Attack Of The Crab Monsters, I have to wonder if the writers had short term memory loss, and just forgot what they'd written before, and every few minutes changed up the canon and pseudoscience of their movie as it went along rather than build on it because holy fuck it was only an hour but it contradicted itself constantly and made so little sense that I've forgotten how to grammar and can't stop typing just frothing at the brain #monsterdon #crabrave

Anyway, in lieu of an actual denoument, I'm going to assume our two survivors were slowly picked apart by the remaining normal land crabs while waiting for rescue. The End! <3 #Monsterdon

What worthless navy radio tech left his goddamn toolbox behind at the antenna stack? You treat your tools like that your deserve to be eaten by crabs and to live life in the hellish mindscape of Crab Brain Simulator! #monsterdon #crabrave

Okay, there's only four minutes left in this movie, so the crab monsters take over the radio and promise to sink the island and eat everyone, before slumbering in the deep and eventually destroying the world of men.

I assume that they will succeed in this plot and humans will have to rely on the raccoons to avenge us. Maybe this movie is a prologue to a future raccoon horror story about the advanced monkey civilization that was destroyed by psychic crabs.

#monsterdon haha wow this fucking guy waits until they get into a heated discussion about whether to kill off an entirely until-now unknown species- to make off with the giant crab leg (presumably to cook it)

Where are they getting electricity on this super remote island that had wiring destroyed in the previous scene?

Okay, so the spooky voice summoned some sailors from the other side of the island (where I must assume they were having a discreet makeout session) to rescue the botanist dude from a rockfall.

maybe the spooky psychic voice is just trying to help but no one trusts it because it sounds spooky.

... I mean... I don't trust it because it sounds spooky, but that could just be a flawed judgement on my part.

This island seems kind of nice and is not the place I would want to test an atomic bomb in. Granted, there are no good places to test atomic bombs at, except possibly the moon.

Also, we find a normal crab and a guy wants to throw a rock at it for no reason but the professor stops him because animal cruelty is bad. A sailor guy explains that crabs will eat dead marines, which I guess makes them scary and disrespectful of the dead.
