More meta-commentary: imagine how long the "but could it REALLY be a giant alligator??" stuff would be drawn out if this were a modern 2-hour movie

What he needs is to find someone with a personal vendetta against alligators. Maybe someone who had all of his shipmates eaten by gators somehow.

Interesting how the movie people confirmed the nature of the reptilian threat pretty quickly, thanks to the journalist guy (RIP). I thought they would drag it out even more and try to gaslight the detective into thinking that there's not an alligator there.

Alligator suffered the same problem as Jaws, the effects team was not able to build a monster that looked and functioned well. The rubber shark sank. The rubber gator looked ridiculous when walking with men's legs inside the gator's legs.

Both creature's functional parts were created by the *same effects guy*.

Both directors had to limit shots to certain angles.

The youtube cut I fled to after being kicked off Tubi is censoring harsh language like "bitch" and blurred out whatever was just on screen. And yet they leave our main character's hair fully visible. #monsterdon

I get lost enough in my own minecraft mines. You could not pay me enough to wander through random sewer tunnels.
