THE TRAIN SCENE

The Southern Pacific Transportation Company yard was rented for two bottles of scotch.

They convinced a rail crew to run a train in reverse, away from the actor's body on the tracks. The footage was run backwards for the film to make it look like the train was about to run over the actor.
