πŸŽƒ The first Oscar ever for make-up went to one of the three werewolf movies in 1981, but which one was it?

πŸŽƒ The Howling was good, but An American Werewolf in London was the winner. It had make-up genius Rick Baker and 11 years of planning by director John Landis.

Luckily for Karen the transformation takes such a long time she was able to stand there gawking forever and STILL make a successful getaway just by running out the office door.

All right, with that folks, #monsterdon October is gone in a flash.

Special thanks to @Taweret for always being the best horror host, @JoeWynne for the trivia, @cherizilla for the great trivia, and everyone else for helping me stay awake during this weird ride.

See you next week for something less spoopy! ❀️

πŸŽƒ At the end of the film, there is a scream that was supposed to be created for Dee Williams ("Karen") with special sound effects.

πŸŽƒ But she, being a scream queen of this era, asked director Dante "Come on, at least give me a shot at it!" He did, and of course it was fantastic, so they kept it in, just adding an echo.

To be contrary to everyone on the feed: I actually like the long transformation idea (not the actual scene in the movie, that was a pacing disaster), but instantaneous transformation should be special and not all werewolves should get it.

(also a common trope in modern urban fantasy books and it can be a neat plot point when done well, whether to remain in human form with some heightened abilities or to transform for more abilities, but depending on the lore less communication skills and/or less humanity)

Hilariously, the news report is about a forest fire that started at the Colony when reporter boy and Karen burned down a barn to kill werewolves, and bodies have been found inside the burned werewolf temple.

Karen goes off script telling the audience that a secret society of shapeshifters exists. The boss tries to cut her off but reporter boy stops him.

Why are new ears coming out the top of his head, instead of his human ears morphing?

And I'm sorry, but that initial face morph was downright comical πŸ˜‚

So Karen's going to make her frst appearance since she freaked out on camera and she's going to tell everyone about werewolves? This is a brilliant plan! #Monsterdon

πŸŽƒ Test audiences wanted to see a transition for the final werewolf. Actress Dee Wallace told the crew she did not want to be an ugly werewolf, but the look should represent her hard-fought resistance.

πŸŽƒ So Bottin created a softer form, but he thought it looked too much like a female Wookie.
