Whenever I'm watching a film with a fan boat in it, there's a good 90% chance it's from the 60s or 70s. I guess America was really infatuated with them for a time.
@Crazypedia They need to hit a ramp and jump over 5 water taxis or something. #Monsterdon #StingOfDeath
All the men in this movie are running around in their boxer shorts!

The search party returns and Igon also appears in his non-Jellyfish wetsuit guise. Headspot guy and Stripe shirt guy go to fix the radio and give Igon a gun to guard Karen, unaware that he moonlights as a jellyfish monster.

βοΈSTING OF TRIVIA πͺΌπ±
Hobart, the actor in the Jellyfish Man costume, said "The monster suit cost about $300 to make" and took about two weeks to complete.
Film historian Bryan Senn points out "In fact, it looks just like what it really isβa man in a crusty, dirty wetsuit and flippers, with plastic cords hanging from his shoulders and a clear hefty bag inflated over his head."
Is it me, or does miss Karen look like a mix between Salma Hayek and Alotta Fagina from Austin Powers?
he's a big fan of that boat GET IT ar ar ar ar ar ar ar
@CactuarJoe worst robot master ever
This movie better have at least one more dance scene, or I'm gonna "Go Eegone"!
Oh Susan
A shame you got the stinging and the bruisin'
Because you took a shower 'stead of snoozin'
After hanging with the frat boys who were boozin'
(god I'm not going to get all the way through this movie before a mod banhammers me)
#monsterdon Definitely see how this angles into a porn parodyβ¦
Uh-oh! Karen has lit up! Not a good sign! #Monsterdon
Egon is copping a feel and no one seems to want to stop him. #Monsterdon
Where is the stinging part? #monsterdon
#monsterdon ok. My guess is: Egon's a were-jellyfish
@SocialCommentaryBot breakout character
#monsterdon Poor monster got some of his tentacles ripped off.
#monsterdon Karen, it's Susan! Who screams because of Louise! And poor Darlene! So much Aquanet, it choked poor Egonβ¦
Egon: βHey, Susan, want some Mardi-Gras beads?β
That's gonna take more then scrubbing bubbles to get clean.
Film historians often say that bad films like these survived all these years because of only a few minutes of film.
Pretty sure we just found the section that explains why this one survived.
To paraphrase one of the wisest things to ever come out of MST3K, "Never reference a better movie in your crappy movie."
@RobynGoodfellow And the girl is stripped to make her look
Hey does anyone remember when a swamp absolutely writhing with jellyfish clogged up and sank an entire boat full of frat kids, and incidentally then killed all the kids who fell into the water? What happened to all those jellyfish? I feel like that quantity of trailing, stinging tendrils might have somewhat thinned the huge schools of fish we keep seeing in these underwater shots.
All the charm of a motel bedroom. With the a/c mounted through the wall right over the bed.
#monsterdon I had to stop Louise from screaming... so I grabbed a tire iron and I... calmed her down.
The more underwater scenes, the more they save on their ADR budget
This movie is about 70% padding shots.
@wohali I *guess* given comments earlier they could get out to the gulf of mexico, but it would have been nice to make it clear. (pun not intended)
I know he *has* to be in it, based on the title, but I'm having a hard time seeing how this plot lends itself to an appearance by Feyd-Rautha π€ #Monsterdon #StingOfDeath #StingOfDeath1966
I have buoyancy questions, given the lack of weight belts and BCDs
Gotta make sure they don't get that X-rating, so gotta cover up those man belly buttons!
By the time you get all suited up, she's going to be extra drowned y'know.
The director of this film was an assman in all directions
What if I made a pot of tea during this very slow "chase" sequence.
"I'll take my shirt off, to serve as a beacon!"
I'd buy it that this Egon changing while wearing the wet suit he's in just before each monster appearance - but it's a completely different style wet suit.
@combatwombat Almost ready for ska!
lol, they should not have shown the head....
YOU CAN SEE HIS FACE IN THE TRASH BAG
@Violinknitter "Look, I'll do this movie on one condition: I need to die early."
In the morning we take one of those fan boats to look for Igon, who we can't find. We discover Igon's swamp house, which they think is creepy even though it just kind of looks like a well maintained shack with book shelves and a couch inside. It also has an aquarium with jellyfish, which is a bit odd, but it lets the spotted head guy tells the audience that jellyfish are dangerous. Then one of the girls goes outside so she can be ambushed by the monster.
smoking kills

Sheβs got one last butt shot in her!
The monster looks like me when I've been untangling the rat's-nest of cables behind my TV.
Wonder how many leaches she picked up filming this? #Monsterdon #StingOfDeath

they've taped additional tentacles onto his wetsuit is that a continuity error or is he tenticle-generating?
We have a family dinner where everyone is sad because of the jellyfish murders, and Karen is extra sad. The writers of the movie have decided being sad is also romantic, so they have Karen and Stripe Shirt Guy kiss.
Apparently, no actual jellyfish were willing to associate themselves with this movie. Too bad. They probably would have been better actors than anyone weβve seen so far. #Monsterdon
@Louisa hahaha π
"Pan the running time out with some swamp shots, Neil said he wouldn't perform nude so we'll have to fill ten minutes..."
Some see a fragile ecosystem; I see a highway!
Death always gets me in the mood!
@gnomon Wobbly and amorphous... like a jellyfish? π
I hope the giant killer ants get them
After murdering some college students who were jerks, the monster retreats to his secret jellyfish radio cave and removes the jellyfish from his head, revealing that he was Igon all along, thus disappointing me.
So like Batman he becomes 'Jellyfishman' to beat people up who have upset him because he has the emotional maturity of a 10 year old?
is this is family? who are all these people #monsterdon
Oh uh doctor, your barnacle's slipping
Oh god. Is the other half of the black thing on his forehead somewhere in the food? #Monsterdon #StingOfDeath
I'm having trouble digesting a lot of this
The monster sabotages our boat by hitting it with an axe, breaking the engine and sinking it when it is surrounded by floating plastic bags that are supposed to be jellyfish. A classic jellyfish boat ambush maneuver.
Anyway, all the college kids fall into the water and thrash about and I guess die from jellyfish stings.
For dessert: Jelly Rolls
Good gracious, did our frat rat body count just jump from like two to... fifteen or so?? Jeepers
#Monsterdon πͺΌπͺΌ π¬ π π±
I understand nothing
whaaaaaat egon is the jellyfish monster woooooow what a shooooooock
those plastic bags are probably part of the great pacific garbage patch to this day

we've got to get him to a hospital stat, someone has gooped his eye #monsterdon
After our dance party, one of the girls goes swimming in the pool in her normal clothes. No one notices but a monster who looks like a diver chases her and drowns her. Also, before the monster hits her, she already had blood on her face for unclear reasons.
Then the white people see the monster in the pool; it knocks a couple of them down, giving them bloody faces, and then retreats into the swamp.
The doctor's mole keeps changing size, maybe it's actually the monster?
(I mean, no, it's pretty obvious it's Egon, but that's still highly suspicious.)
everyone cares about Ben....
OK I dunno if I have a *specific* example of poor choices, but c'mon
I'm claiming bingo
So much writhing
God it's Nightmare on Elm Street 2 all over again
#monsterdon She laughs like she found a huge box of D cells for her sex toys.
We go outside to do more white people dances. The camera points at the girl butts (TM). Everyone is having a good time in a soda commercial sort of way. The dance is called "The Jellyfish". We see the butts from multiple angles, alternated with smiling girls and bobbing heads.
Meanwhile there is a monster crawling in the pool. One of the girls noticed earlier, but was overruled by the Need to Dance.
"Hey, anyone up for a dip in the pool?"
"Not me, I'm eating."
OK so we take the "no swimming for an hour after eating" rule seriously but not personal flotation devices?? What were they teaching these kids on school those days?
Is the pool so murky they can't see the big dark mass of monster in there?
OMG! That spat of dialogue about getting into the pool sounded like it was written by AI.
Did you know?
Most bipeds have butts. The cameraman on "Sting of Death" just found out on the first day of shooting, see if you can tell.
Don't get me wrong, if you can't wow them with plot or dialog, or action for some reason, buttocks is a <strikethrough>good</s> replacement
Most movies would be made better with first wave ska in them.
Didn't expect to hear first wave ska in this movie. No. Just no.
would this resonate with 60s teens, is this what they were doing or aspired to be like #monsterdon
.... ok so
was the movie made for the benefit of the song, to make it popular, or the song made for the movie, for similar reasons.
And what were they smoking when they decided either?
This is some Joey Ramone-ass rhyming
