I can revitalize a man, but a party? KEEP DANCING

Next we have a fancy party at the fancy house, which I assume is some kind of 1940s contemporary plantation, while a character who is definitely not a vampire watches. In a discussion between the MC and a boy that is probably supposed to be flirty, learn this is a reception for Count Alucard, who hasn't showed up.

Then an old dude has to go to bed, but not before smoking a cigar. While he's doing that a bat flies in and turns into a vampire who then creeps about the corridor.

This movie is going to run out of locations if it keeps tearing through them like this.

@CStamp for all we know, vampires could do just fine drinking less blood from more creatures instead of killing them, all the draculas were just sort of assholes, but now we can't because frank had to up and burn her before she had a chance to try #monsterdon

There was some interesting stuff in that movie, like Katherine's plan to cuckold Dracula, a breathtaking sentence to write. But ultimately everyone was so bad at their job it felt more like a farce without comedy.

Up next on @miru, Son of Dracula (1974), "the First Rock-and-Roll Dracula Movie", starring Harry Nilsson and Ringo Starr, which I don't think I can make myself watch but maybe other folks can

How is this asshole a hero? He shot Kay and didn't care that she died. And when that didn't kill her, he burned her corpse. All he ever did to her was harm, as far as we saw.

Tragic news from Dark Oaks tonight where Frank Stanley, Dr. Brewster, Dr. Laszlo and Sheriff Doesnthaveaname all perished after standing in a house on fire until they died.

I mean, the guy is still wanted for murder. It's not like you can just say "whoopsie-doopsie" and ignore that. Intentional or not, he's still guilty of at least manslaughter. #monsterdon

Thanks to @Taweret for hosting!

Tonight's feature, #SonOfDracula, from 1943, did not involve awkward parent-teacher conferences. Instead we got:

Dude. You threw Frank's body into a pool of water that's RIGHT NEXT to the burning coffin. And you can't figure out how to put out the fire??

Terencio

I can see why Dracula kicked this "son" out of the castle.

I do really like older, slower paced movies that let their plots breath. Star Wars is a great example: Compare the pacing of A New Hope to the first of the newest trilogy.

But you need more meat to back that up then this movie has.

1943 is also the year of Return of the Vampire, the legally-distinct Dracula sequel that Columbia made with Bela Lugosi that also had a werewolf and the eponymous vampire being resurrected during the blitz by German bombs.

It's not great, but it is more interesting than this.
