"there's this long tailed reptilian alien demon that we all know about that can be summoned to murder a set of designated people. we call it pumpkinhead, it's sorta cute that way"

the pumpkinhead displays a great deal of creative joy in its murders, rather than simply killing them and returning to the pumpkin platform, it hits the library, learning about the technological developments since its last summoning so that it can pull sweet jokes like removing the chain from a dirtbike when the moment calls for it #monsterdon

Is Pumpkinhead deliberately killing the least guilty ones first as extra punishment for the drunk biker and also Ed Harley?

So far this movie is a million more times like the Beef: It's What's for Dinnerβ„’οΈŽ ads than any horror movie I've seen

A reckless teen helping the damned. A loving father caring for his son. Townfolk refusing to give the grieving dad the witch's location. Parents being honest with their kids about the danger. I mean... this is a positive portrayal of the locals. Not just a bunch of easy stereotypes. #Monsterdon

So who else has been writing the poem this movie was "based on"

There once was a man named Ed Harley,
Who summoned a demon so snarly,
It killed some bad teens
And lit up the screen
While Ed was the one who turned gnarly

I'm not sure if this is a movie thing but do people *know* you're not supposed to move a person who's been hit by a car, and even if they look 100% dead to you, call 911 because they can be alive and you may be saving their life? So, like, DON'T BURY THEM IN A PET SEMATARY

What happened to the church that only some of the studs and some lathe survived? I feel like nobody spent any time researching the failure modes of wooden structures built between 1900 and 1950.

I've figured out where this movie is set: A 1980s Hollywood stereotype of Appalaichaorleansbama.

We're supposed to believe these city people are teenagers? Am I reading this right?

A great Halloween classic! Thanks @Taweret and for reminding me that demon-based vengeance is bad.

And that's a wreck! Ed's ended life balances Pumpkinhead's murderous vengeance, as the careless killing of his son began it. Pumpkinhead's mortal form fucks off into the flames of hell while Ed takes his place in Pumpkinhead's own grave, poisonous vengeance awaiting exhumation. Ashes to ashes; dust to dust.

Thank you for hosting, @Taweret ! Thank you for the bingo card, @cherizilla !

This was a fun one. Good pick!

the pumpkinhead is clearly not affected by crosses, and even finds joy in using crosses in its arsenal of murder tools. the real tragedy of the movie is the human's inability to adapt their understanding of the monster beyond their natural reference frame of rural appalachian christianity and address its underlying needs, rather than condemning it to a hell to which it does not belong #monsterdon

Things move a little slower down here in Pumpkinhead

You know call me crazy but I'd be morally comfortable with some terrible fate befalling this reckless riffraff

The thing about Henricksen: He has that great knowing grin. Makes you feel like you're in on it. You root for him. He's not malevolent. He's just smart.
