@davesdogmaggie It doesn't seem like it was an extended process though. Like, I'm guessing there wasn't a stretch of time where he could have realized "oh hey I'm on my way to inventing something that destroys oxygen, I should probably stop before I get it to work, huh". I imagine the process being that he was tinkering with some chemicals or whatever and suddenly realized at some point "oh crap, this is destroying oxygen". At that point all he can do is pretend it didn't happen, which he *almost* did here.

Granted I don't think we can really tell for sure from the movie (unless I missed something)

I've never seen this before. And it's really kinda potent for its time. I hope we have something a little light and fluffier next week. This one isn't as hilarious as much as it is important. #monsterdon

Is the oxygen destroyer like a directed beam, or is it like a radiative effect that is blocked by glass, like are we trying to stop a dude carrying a big oxygen destroyer minigun like rambo or dropping the oxygen destroyer core from a helicopter or what #monsterdon

I gotta say it is particularly hard to imagine how the Oxygen Destroyer could be used to benefit society (maybe aside from this one super specific use case of fighting Godzilla), but props to eyepatch guy for trying

At this point the planes are a bit late to prevent any further disaster, and Godzilla is already leaving... it makes sense to continue the attack if they think there is a chance of preventing a future attack, but given how little damage even direct hits from tank cannons seemed to have, missiles don't seem to hold much promise either. Too little, too late.
