What a great movie. This is by far the modern goji that I would say is closest to being my favorite if not for the power of the original's messaging (which cannot be defeated IMHO)

I was a little skeptical in the beginning but I really enjoyed the way it developed its characters, made Godzilla truly feel like a menacing threat, and had plenty of good drama connective tissue. And even stayed relatively faithful to the nuclear horror allegory, if not undercut it a fair bit with the militarism.

During Godzilla's detruction of the harbor earlier, this poster is shown. It's a pic of the real Lucky Dragon, the Japanese fishing boat that was contaminated by radioactivity in mid-1954. That event was the main inspiration for the original Godzilla in 1954.

huh, a neat little nod to reality - in the command centre, looking at the camera view as being actually broadcast, it's like... 4 frames per second? in other words, the pack she plugged the camera into is frame-slicing for bandwidth reasons.
