This movie seems to be more keen on emphasizing the natural disaster aspect of monster attacks... we see more panicked people, messier evacuations and civilians getting injured or killed. Most of the other godzillas seem to have smoother evacuations to set the stage for the kaiju fights.

#Monsterdon Godzilla helping us meet our climate targets by destroying some oil infrastructure.
Cute puppy kaiju smashes through a suburb like a racoon who drank too many wine coolers.
For some reason our vantage characters are now a couple in a ski-lift who also do a panic. The People With Cameras are less fearful however, and pause to do a photoshoot with the cute puppy kaiju. Then Godzilla ruins their day.
Godzilla's kind of harshing everyone's mellow today.
#Monsterdon in a side story, Hospital girl sees godzilla and does a panic. Then godzilla leaves but smashes her hospital anyway with a tail. Bummer.
In a different side story, a Helpful Scared Guy runs into a supermarket with a loudspeaker to warn everyone of Godzilla. A lady doesn't believe him then drops some eggs.
Then we go outside and see everyone panicking. Except the teacher and the kids who seem to have their calmness flags set to "TRUE"
"Dad, do we really need to go over the 'Japan has a long history of war crimes' thing again?"
They broke the idol ... cause creepy old guy wasn't enough foreshadowing

It does feel like early on that they were scrambling to fit every possible plot point together and still had things they wanted to do but didn't have time to. that might be an effect of having like 20 viewpoint characters for the first half of the movie.
