Another #Monsterdon is in the can!

Thanks to @Taweret for hosting!

Tonight's feature, #TheLastManOnEarth, from 1964, is based on the 1954 novel "I Am Legend" by the brilliant Richard Matheson, and stars the equally brilliant Vincent Price. Amidst the post-apocalyptic ghoulies and beasties, we also had:
- Garlic and stakes!
- Vampire Jazz!
- Burn pit backstory!
- The biggest old timey radio set ever!
- Bat man antibodies!

It would be amusing if when you pulled the vamps off their kebab skewers, they’d get back to shambling. That would have been a cute twist.

Morgan! Your car insurance has laaaaaaapsed Morgan!

there’s a lot of fuel on the side of that gas can. The place appears to be made of oily rags. This can be an OSHA video.

that IS ACTUALLY THE moral of the story is that vincent price was actually not worth saving and you don't need a true antidote because being a huge piece of shit was the real disease #monsterdon

Look, Morgan, whatever else you're going to do in this situation, you should give her the injection you prevented her from giving herself.

Holy cow. People can cover serious territory on foot in this film. He drove for ages before he found the grave site for his wife. She got out and got back home quite quick. #monsterdon

it appeared that for a brief time, Virge was on the verge. She is no longer on any verge. Anymore.

she called the doctor, then bad things happened - some MAGA thinking going on here

My first thought was that this was the stock family that comes with every tin of movie film. And then I stopped and thought of picture frames. LOL.

Gotta say, those zombies don't put up much of a fight. He did pretty well with a few slaps and aggressive pushes.

I would totally have gone to auditions for the part of zombie corpse number eleven.

That's some quality acting

@skatem that would work for sure I bet Scott Thompson has seen every single one of Vincent's monologues on the Hilarious House of Frightenstein show so he knows the subject well

Hot damn, that was good!

I guess what I took away from this one, was, if there's an airborne disease killing millions across the world, maybe you should... wear a mask?

#Monsterdon #TooSoon ?

Also: In a bizarre, ironic twist: Price's cookbook waaaayyy lowballs how much garlic you should use

#Monsterdon Grading #LastManOnEarth is… that one student who Understood the Assignment.

Vincent Price: A++++++ and not just because of my bias. (That hysterical laughter… eep.)
Science: A, testing hypothesis like garlic and mirrors
Biology: B-, knew the difference between bacteria and viruses at least.
Screenwriting: A+ adaptation, genuinely creepy and dark.
Acting: C+, some chewing of scenery and fellow actors
Irony: BOY howdy.
Plague parallels: damn eerie.

Think this one taught *me*.
