Just finished watching the 2024 version of #Nosferatu. I have the original version on DVD, but the remake seemed interesting. Eggers’ take on Hamlet (which I only realized later) was kinda meh, but this was better - still had a lot of that oddly cold and sterile vibe that #TheNorthman had, but this time mostly made up for it with a much more sinister villain. Compared to the material Murnau ripped off, Orlok is much rougher and more openly violent, just to name two differences.

πŸŽƒ Some context for the Smiley face buttons and stickers...
First appearing in 1963, by 1971 over 50 million smiley face buttons alone had been produced. T-shirts, stickers and other pop culture appearances were ubiquitous.

πŸŽƒ I barely made it through this period with my insanity intact. So it's not surprising that by 1980, the image was ripe for use in dark storylines.

While the werewolf is transformed Karen is transfixed with horror (I think), but then gets enough sense to grab a jar of acid to splash it on the werewolf and runs away. She gets into a car but is stopped by the police and taken to a secret temple in the woods where all the other colony people are there.

@apLundell When the audience is glancing at their watches while you show off your major, budget-blowing special effect, and you realize you had one job

I know John Landis said he regretted the very long transformation scene in An American Werewolf in London, that in retrospect it ruined the pacing but he was just so impressed by what the effects department did, and

This time the transition seemed pretty good though at the beginning the anatomy gas awkward and the cinematography didn't do the practical effects justice #Monsterdon

The transformation is quite nice. So much that it makes me think someone figured out how to make this special effect work, and they came up with a script to justify it later #monsterdon #thehowling
