OK I may not be able to resist this musical from @miru
I guess I'm watching (or maybe just listening to) the musical since I missed most of the "plot" in the original thanks to cooking disasters.
@ramsey @diazona yeah i felt kind of bereft after Audrey was eaten for the whole rest of the movie. though the running amok was fantastic #Monsterdon #wrongFrogs
@ramsey @diazona yeah this ending got cut #Monsterdon #wrongFrogs
@forestine excuse me I think that'd be #WrongWrongFrogs π
so now i need to watch it again for the theatrical ending where they don't get eaten right?
maybe another day #Monsterdon #wrongFrogs
and end credits with an amazing soundtrack too!
I still can't quite reconcile the presence of a proper end credits sequence with the epically perfect #Monsterdon -y goodness we just witnessed
@LuluHelle I'm tempted to join you in that
JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS playing at the destroyed movie theatre :blobfoxlaugh:
πΆ Look Out, Here Comes Audrey II πΆ
At no point in this entire thing has it ever been clear whether Audrey II has a throat
Now *that's* a performance that brings down the house
I would watch like six hours of just Audrey II and the Buds doing show tunes and Motown covers
did this movie singlehandedly push the phrase "tough titty" into public consciousness
I like that they have kept the cadence of upgrading the puppet with every feeding
"A goddamn vegetable's public domain!"
[gentle puppeteering]
I like the small touches in here though
the dead Audrey II foliage helps *make* it
there's foreshadowing and then there's "when I die, which is going to be very soon"
Nothing like being partially digested by a plant to facilitate a budding romance π
lollllll the plant knows how to use a rotary phone
Does this count as getting 60's married or 80's married
yesssss the chorus is backing up Audrey II
I wonder if Audrey II actually ships Seymour and Audrey or just sees it as a path to getting food
#monsterdon Steve Martin is such a master of slapstick he doesn't even have to be in the scene to make it work: #WrongShop #WrongFrogs
"Orin Scrivello" lol
Sadly I can't hear "Orin" without thinking of the NVIDIA Orin chip
Chopping up a dead body is in fact 50% easier if you set up a spotlight to project your shadow on a highly visible wall
@plaidtron3000 Wow, that's pretty tall for an actor. I didn't realize that!
One of my favorite things ever is listening to @starkraving666 singing along to Somewhere Thatβs Green. And Suddenly Seymour.
And Elbowβs Mirrorball, but thatβs a separate story. #monsterdon #wrongfrogs
it's good but it's no Roger Corman. where is the haste? where is the cheapness?
#wrongFrogs #Monsterdon
@klu9 https://miru.miyaku.media/ if you care to tune in that way
Rock on, Audrey II #TeamMonster
@klu9 Half an hour or so, but because it's #WrongFrogs things have actually happened that are relevant to the plot
As you gaze upon this INCREDIBLE puppet, recall that the year is 1986.
"disgrace to the dental profession"
like, I swear, the musical version would have been gold for my bingo card
I kind of wish Audrey had been using her singing voice the whole movie. The high-pitched one was irritating IMO
I like this version of Audrey II that can move around and exhibit facial expressions
*jazz leaves* (but for real this time)
If the plant likes blood so much I wonder if it'd take to blood pudding
@SnoopJ Huh really? In my head that seems like it'd work well on stage, it just couldn't be silent
The musical already makes more sense than the Corman version
They may not have money on Skid Row but they clearly have dancing talent
(ok so keep in mind I'm currently listening to an audio book about the history of swearing in English)
But: saying "god says gee I don't know" is very weird. Because "gee" is a shortened form of jesus, and god swearing by his son is strange when god canonically-ish swears only by himself (there are some interesting early references to swearing by other gods and anyway if you aren't interested in this subject you should read/listened to Holy Sh*t by Melissa Mohr)
