It Came from Beneath the Sea

Our brave military industrial complex has invented a new weapon, an ANTI-OCTOPUS-HARPOON-JET-TORPEDO which can pierce the natural damage reduction of kaijus but is probably trash against soviet submarines. Sometimes ya gotta specialize.

Joyce reveals her own power item, a storybook with Octopus cartoons showing Seymour eating a sailboat with a comment explaining that this comes from the time of Vesuvius or something.

Lots of bridges to choose from, but honestly if you're going to climb a bridge, make it the Golden Gate Bridge.

Not sure why, but we get a phone call from an airplane informing us that Seymour is a zombie octopus and so we have to destroy his brain to defeat him. A near miss won't work because he can regenerate or something.

How the airplane learned this is unclear. I'm gonna assume they met Gandalf riding a Kirin while flying over the pacific, and Gandalf shared the deep lore before flying off.

Movie making very sure we understand that they blew the mines up one at a time by calling our their numbers to the trigger guy.

They could have made a quick check to see if there was anything they could do to help that guy before they hightailed it out of there

Okay, we reported an giant octopus, and so immediately we cut off all trade in the Pacific (somehow) and deploy the navy to search for Seymour. By "search" we mean "depth charge", because... um... violence solves all problems? I think turning all ocean trade off is a bit of an overreaction (along with the depth charges), but that's probably because I'm a pinko commie coward.

We get a sequence explaining how cephalopods work with a balloon.

Joyce uses a wall map to explain her hypothesis that the H-Bomb turned Seymour into a monster. Evidence for this is that the Japanese fishers had less of a catch; this could be Seymour's fault, or Godzilla's. I don't remember if this movie came out before or after Godzilla, so I'm just gonna pretend they're happening at the same time.

The Navy King is unimpressed with Joyce's hypothesis, even though this is a movie so the first hypothesis is always right.

okay so one of the properly protected beekeepers was the Submarine Captain, who is going to have a weird 50s movie romance with Joyce, the One Girl.

Judging from the handy she gave to the graduated cylinder, she seems to be into it.

Thanks #Monsterdon for a fun movie, and also possibly identifying a thing that deeply interests our cat. We noticed she was seriously **watching** the scenes with the octopus, and after the movie put on a few minutes of a random squid documentary. Turns out she might be legit interested in cephalopods. Just can't take her eyes off them. Even 50's claymation ones.

Well that was a bit too easy for the men TBH...they are still super creepy but at least they are *starting* to figure out the Lady actually saved their asses!

Anyways great #Monsterdon @Taweret ... can't go wrong with soft core stop-motion tentacle porn on Mastodon!

Another #Monsterdon is in the sub!

Thanks to @Taweret for hosting!

Tonight's picture had all manners of aquatic hijinks!

* Fish with built in geiger counters!
* Tentacles all over the place!
* Too much talking, and not enough monster.
* Bridge destruction!
* Clock destruction!
* Boat destruction!
* Another case where the monster should have been the hero.

After we fail to kill Seymour via depth charges, Seymour decides to attack the golden gate bridge because he thinks it looks pretty and wants to play with it. More alarms go off, annoying the audience.

Some bridge guy is ordered to abandon his post rather than die needlessly. This compares favorably to the 2020s Hawaii Nuclear Attack False Alarm where fast food employees were ordered to man their stations despite supposed impending atomic hellfire
