@Configures yes! this was that version - peertube has a way of importing videos using youtube-dl directly in the client, so i just mirror the archive.org version each week. the archive.org streaming player doesn't work for a lot of people (me included, i always have to keep refreshing every few minutes) so this was just a way to make ad-free versions available to ppl who couldn't download the movie for whatever reason (and peertube can be accessed on some smart tvs which some ppl use, although i don't know anything about that bc i have never used one) #monsterdon

i dug out my copy of 'the art of ray harryhausen' book to see what he said about this movie. apparently the aliens were originally going to be seen without their suits inside the saucers, all stop-motion animated, but they ran out of time and budget #monsterdon
